Pardon my overzealousnes..My apologies...not to get you in a hurry but I am a little excited for this little station and what you and Limp 73 are doing for them... which I think is tremendous! Veteran broadcasters helping smaller broadcasters..it's virtualy unheard of in this biz!

Yes it would be cool if you and others can VT for 'RPO....Surely Gene would be pleased if and when that takes place. Dale Madison may have first dibs on that one though since he helps out Gene at Audio Sensations. Robbie may be next with his "not so News" from the fictitious 25th floor goin' 7 days a week.
You still helping out Brad Beer and the gang at 'SWO? (been too busy to listen lately)

No insult taken. What I can tell you is there are still "professional radio people" out there (of which I count myself as one) who "get" what the FCC created LP service for. Most of these stations, primarily in smaller communities are no real "threat" to the big boys because of the coverage disadvantage. They're non-profits, so any money made goes back into the station.
The Indian Lake area, which is a tourist destination and resort in Ohio in summer and a cozy community in the winter is capable of supporting this type of station.
And the real beauty of this station is: it doesn't have to be run like a big market station...it just should sound like one with the local element angled in. There's no ratings you can pull on Logan County that are anything near accurate. (What does it get, like maybe 12 diaries, if that?) And not having the pressure to sell massive numbers of commercials, one can be, shall we say..."creative" with the programming? (That is: utilize programming tactics and approaches to make the station as interesting and listenable as possible.)
Sure, Gene has some unique programming with the "Not So News" (which, though certainly "homespun" in nature, is actually a local version of Colbert or Jon Stewart and when I heard it, it, at least, made me smile in places...so the creative potential is there).
And there's a lot of local programming I'd like to see added, but it all takes time and slow but sure improvements. Remember, they don't have much in the way of "staff", so things are going to need to be worked in over time. But the potential is limitless.
All this having been said, though...I've never read anything in the rules that says an LP can't sound professional, be run professionally, be professionally engineered, and be made to run well. Now, the NAB (which was in the pockets of some major corporations on LPFM who run scared at the thought of any new potential competition) might have wanted to create a law like that, but...these stations live by what Uncle gave them.
This station is in a format, as I'm told, few commercial stations want to do anymore. (Remember: "nobody wants those older demos"!) So, no area broadcasters who have the where-with-all to make their stations sound good should even have the slightest care about WRPO. If any do...they need to question their own station's programming...(and perhaps the "value" of "those older demos").
