WRXP PD is out!

Just saw on FMQB that WRXP PD Blake Lawrence is out at the station. Perhaps we'll be seeing some changes after all, especially with the addition of Matt Pinfield. I hope they go a true-alternative route, similar to WEQX, Indie 103.1 or WFNX, but obviously with a New York flair. Just my opinion.

Like i said. they should go Modern/Alternative being that NYC has a classic rocker and an active rocker. if the listener wants older rock, got to 104.3. if the listener wants new and old rock, got to 92.3. if the listener wants new rock go to.... oh yea thats right, nowhere. 101.9, this is your chance to fill the void.

What is new rock? What is alternative? What is modern?

Yes...it is obvious they didn't hire Matt Pinfield to sit there and play "nickelback" and the like..the stations you mention are some of the best..especially indie, I would also add CD 101 in Columbus to that list...

I gotta tell you. Blake is a good guy, treats people well, and knows music. Hope he lands soon somewhere that will appreciate him. He's one of the good ones

If you think CD 101 in Columbus is a good radio station then you have VERY low standards. Here in Columbus they are a joke and a legend in their own mind. They are dated and very un-hip. They are kids playing to kids, who no longer listen to terrestial radio in this city. They are also in the process of getting their rear ends taken off by CC's Radio 106.7. I've always applauded their fight as an independent but it's time for them to focus on a different direction. I've always been attracted to stations that are different to be good. CD 101 is different to be different and it's painful to listen to. They were great and cutting edge years ago when there were a limited number of stations in the market and in the format but that's all changed and they have not stayed up with the environment.

wow, he just got the job, didnt even have time to clutter his desk......

What are you talking about? CD 101 has a comparable playlist to the other stations that were mentioned, it is one of the few true alternative commercial stations in the US...the ratings show cc's crap station being a non factor..CD 101's ratings have not changed since that signed on...in fact they are up a bit in the latest ratings...

Check again: WRXS 2.5, WWCD 1.8

Who cares? Rock stations will most likely NEVER garner high ratings (especially with the current system). The idea is to be successful with the CORE audience, not the WHOLE audience. If RXP can go Alternative (in the Indie 103, FNX, CD101 vein) than they will have a listerner-base, not a huge one, but one that would be appreciative and loyal.

I'm a bit confused. Can you please direct me to the active rock station we have here in NYC? :)

WRXS is Radio 106.7, Clear Channel's Alternative station in Columbus.

"Check again: WRXS 2.5, WWCD 1.8"

The point is whereever that 2.5 came from it wasn't from CD 101, which has actually gone up in the most recent ratings...

CD101 used to be in the twos. The recovered from the last few books, but are down from where they usually have been.
