WSAH to become RTN Affiliate July 1!

I just found out from Cablevision's on-screen channel guide that WSAH will move from Channel 14 to 77 on 9/16. This applies to the Southern CT audience of Cablevision. And Channel 77 (Local Access) goes to channel 88. By the way this is for digital cable box subscribers.

Question, what becomes of 14?

Seriously, how many people write letters anymore? If that's going to be the guage of interest, there's obviously going to be none.

I think Ron (who posts here on behalf of WSAH) needs it "in writing" to convince folks at RTN that there is a demand for the programming. Judging by this cutback, it's obvious that the letters were just not rolling in...

I don't think he needs to convince RTN of anything, I think he needs to convince WSAH that it is more worthwhile to carry RTN than infomercials. And as we are seeing it is apparently hard for them to turn down infomercial money. So while RTN is growing substantially nationwide, it can barely hang on after 2 months on WSAH. Just sounds to me like the station is not committed to carrying the RTN programming.

RTV (as it's now known) may not have much of a future, either, if its technical problems and repitition of programming have any indication.

WMFP was not listed in my local newspaper (Nashua Telegraph) so I e-mailed them asking them to add their listings. Within two weeks, channel 62 was listed!

I notice that none of the other papers around (Union Leader, Globe, Sun, Sentinel, Telegram&Gazette) list channel 62, so if you'd like to attract a few more viewers to your local RTN station, send a message to your newspaper asking they be listed. I know the newspaper listings aren't used as much as before, with so many channels and the on-screen program guides, but it can't hurt!

There's no doubt that people ARE watching WMFP. RTV is really beginning to get a good following. I know that WJAR 10.2 in Providence is getting plenty of local ads with their RTV programming. WMFP should try to get some local advertising as well. The station has good signal, it has excellent cable and satellite coverage. The programming is pretty good. It's a favorite channel of mine. WMFP should try do get some local ads from say.... Ernie Boch Jr., Bob's Discount Furniture and others. It's worth a try to get some local advertising. Boston has needed a classic TV station for a long time.

Just saw tonight!WSAH for us here in Ct is ending RTN at the end of september!Im hoping comcast will get another station that broadcasts rtn after that.

With constant technical problems, limitations of programming to prime-time only and absolutely no promotion to non-WSAH viewers that it actually exists, one wonders of WSAH is dumping RTV, or is RTV dumping WSAH.

RTV made some outlandish promises they could not deliver on. Any attempt to work with them was either ignored or bullied away (take note of the OnePhone ad, this is the personality running the show). I requested promotional materials repeatedly, FCC REQUIRED reports for the public affairs, FCC REQUIRED announcements for kid's changes, etc. When I went over this person's head, after my complaints and requests were ignored for the final time, I was actually yelled at for going over his head.

They swore they aired locally sold advertisements on our LA station, but the aircheck recordings say different. This is a HUGE deal, as we don't watch the stations 24/7, we count on the as-run log and the relative reliability of the automation system to swear "yes it aired" to the client. When confronted with this, they ignored it. When I went to the owner, I got "oops, sorry".

RTV is plagued with technical issues, of which they cannot or will not correct. Such things as lipsync, skipping shows, server crashes, satellite receiver crashes and poor audio quality and levels. I have attempted to advise them on numerous occasions, well... see above.

I urge you to read their Facebook fan page, where there are numerous complaints, which go ignored and unaddressed.

Did the Boston affiliate have these same issues?

Yes they do... I cant get into the particulars there as 1) it wouldn't be appropriate and 2) Sean doesnt share the financials with the other stations with me.

LA has similar issues as well. I am in contact with other RTV affiliates and hear exactly the same things.

By the looks of that Facebook page, it seems those that don't have RTV want to watch it, and those who do get RTV want to fix it.

Notice that all the complaints and direct questions for that matter, go completely ignored. Huge no-no in the social media world. People will post, get no response, and leave, while the anoraks who like to hear themselves talk continue to post inanity.

Anybody can create a Facebook fan page, so I wouldn't consider it to be a legitimate venue for responding to customer complaints. Who's to say that anyone at RTV even looks at that page? If customers have complaints they should use the contact information on the RTV website. If RTV created that page themselves, then I digress.

Facebook is getting really Big!!I would think that it would be in RTV's best interest to keep its facebook page up to date and contribute to it often.I dont want to see RTV facebook become just a place to complain and one of the best ways to avoid that is for RTV to keep all well informed on whats going on.
