WSDV-AM Sarasota

Hey Rich (Scott),
I do miss working with you on air buddy. I'm flattered you'd put me in AM Drive on your station. I love your on-air line-up. My only request, I'd love to bring Morgan back too. I've been talking to her lately and she'd love to work with both you and I again. She's ready to make a move back to FL. I miss ole' Duane Dean on the air too, great idea. Love Tracy... And Rob C, good stuff. I LOVE IT.... That was when, going to work, WAS FUN....... I miss that line-up, the music and the promotions we did.

It's funny, just saw the trend and CTQ and SRZ, both went down (CTQ again). Imagine that......

Hey Brian,
Thanks for the nice words man. I really appreciate that. I love this market and really enjoyed my time on the air (16 years). I also miss my time doing sports, from high school football to talk. I still have people, that talk about "The Whammer".... I finally got a chance to build what you attempted to do with 1450 (local news and a few weekend local talk shows). But, just as we started to make some progress.... They blew it up.... Oh, well. Good Luck on your gigs man. I always liked the way, you did an air-shift.

And Walt,
I tried to get your info a few times. I wanted to hire you to do news for me on 1450. But couldn't find your contact info... Oh well. Now it's Frank Sinatra, all the time.

On a serious note. I'm surprised no one has contacted the FCC about the Sarasota/Bradenton radio market. It would be interesting if the FCC attempted to review, how ONLY 1 company actually employs LOCAL staff, for the entire radio market. As all other stations, are actually located in Tampa (or have no staff). Oh, well. Just thought, it was worth a mention. But that would be a monoply.

Maverick

Maveirck, I sent you an e-mail since I'm sure everyone was tired of our reminiscing ;D

To bring this back to the original topic of WSDV and WDDV... Anyone know how former WDDV PD Dave Harrell is doing? Not only is he one of the nicest guys ever, but he's got a very impressive Tampa Bay radio background.

THE MOST SCREWIE RATINGS THAT IVE EVER SEEN,I THINK THE POST IS CORRECT ABOUT THE ARBITRON FUB...LETS SEE WHAT HAPPENS IN THE NEXT BOOK.ITS GREAT SEEING ALL MY OLD FRIENDS AND ASSOCIATES FROM THE RADIO WORLD..HI WALT G.....MAV......ETC. ....IM ENTERTAINED BY THE COMMENTS ABOUT WWPR...GOT LOTS OF LAUGHS.....THE PAY TOILET...LOL......WWPR- WERE WE PROSTITUTE RADIO ..LOL ..AND AS FOR COLON CLENSING,I DIDNT KNOW ABOUT IT...SO,I CHECKED IT OUT AND SIGNED A DEAL TO AIR "YOUR HEALTH MATTERS" ...THANKS FOR THE HELP ..LOL.........I HAVE FIGURED OUT WHO MOST OF YOU ARE,BUT I GIVE UP ON SMEDGE2006 AND SBE1 CALL ME AT THE STATION 761-8843 AND LET ME KNOW WHO YOU ARE .....THAKE CARE, BIG ED

Great idea Walt... we'll buy WLSS and make it oldies and bring back some the ex-WSRZ talent. You can pick your shift and we'll bring along Pete Jarrett, Jon Anthony, Susan Gates, Jelvis, Connie Willis, Motown Moby, Scott Chase, Rick The Trickster, Lynn Everette (a.k.a Cathy Taylor), Scott Stevens, Jamie Travis, Derrick Dekker, Herc Styles, Jack Logan, and a few others, I can't think of their names right now (man it's been a long time.) Of course Brian Holmes is a bit busy but maybe he can VT a shift for us!

I loved doin nights on SRZ ! Very proud of those years. Took them from #11 25-54 to #1 (Mon-Fri 7p-mid) in the first book and never left #1 in the three years I was there. Was always #2 or #3 18-34 too only behind either YNF or FLZ. No one ever believes that until I show them the book. lol.

Gotta have Tom Hudson in there too !! What a great oldies jock.
By the way, Derrick Dekker is here in Grand Rapids where I am. He's across the street at Citadel's Thunder 94.9 (country) using the name Ditch Cooper in afternoons and as Splats on weekends on rocker KLQ.

Anyone know where Will Douglass is these days?

No idea where Will Douglass is. I haven't thought about him in 10 years. I didn't mention "Mr. Rock n' Roll" Tom Hudson because I think he's still on WSRZ. Great guy though.

If you happen to run into Derrick up there, say hi for me.

disappointed to see that the clear channel cluster is once again ignoring high school football for the second consecutive year. Maverick Johnson always had at least two games per week - venice high was one - when he ran the am stations at CC sarasota.

i guess CC doesn't care about Sarasota bradenton much anymore. is anyone left in the new building? i notice maps marino and maverick posting here........i loved the bit maps did with jake jacobson back in those days.....did jake every stump him?

Ah yes, my wife still calls me "maps" sometimes, mainly whenever I take a "shortcut"and we get lost! And yes Jake stumped me quite a few times. One I recall was "Yellow Balloon" by "Yellow Balloon"
