The single bay Shively is 96.5 WSLR-LP,

I have no clue why 1220 was originally moved from the 2 tower site. I have heard several stories but as far as I am concerned all hear say. I do have my own opinion but will keep that to myself.

So the OTHER single bay is 98.9 or the old 106.9 antenna?

I'll guess and say the one facing South is for 98.9 and the standoff is the one that was facing South before moving it and put 98.9 in its place.

All the confusion, heres all 3

The Shivley on the north side is 96.5 LP, the 2 bay OMB on the standoff (as someone put it tempting the lightning gods) is 106.9 FX, the OMB 1 bay facing south is 98.9 FX.

I do not think 106.9 was pointing south but to be honest before I took that antenna down, I didnt pay much attention to it since it barely would qualify as a part 15.

Both are fed with Barix via Comcrap Internet which is the excuse for the constant audio issues. There is a plan in the works to make the audio delivery more reliable but it will take a little bit to institue.

What is "FX"?
What is the reason for right channel only for the Rays?

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!

FX is the FCC designation for translator

As far as the rays right channel only is that on the stream or the translator? As soon as you tell me I will get it fixed!

thank you.

it was on the 106.9, but it was not happening with 98.9 during the short time it was on the air during the summer.
I did not listen to the on-line stream as I was riding around Sa-ra-so-ta! in the car.

That brings up another question, Have you tried turning the stereo off and see what type of range you would have?

Hi Everyone,

New owner here. Saw your conversation and thought I would help! Yes, I bought the station a few months ago. Our FM antenna is still at Beneva and Bahia Vista and our AM is on Palmer Rd. We have made some adjustments in the past week and our signal is improved a great deal. We are in the process of buidling the two new towers, but since we just bought it and could not do it in the time alotted - we have been granted more time by the FCC.

In addition to the signal improvements, we have also added a lot of new local programming to our line up. I have been in Sarasota since the 1970's and have a strong committment to our community. I bought the station because I believe that the monoploy's have bastardized radio and the listeners have paid the price. I hope I don't sound too harsh, but to me...when I can't find out what is happening down the street from me...we have done something wrong.

I am a small business, like every other small business, where I am working hard to build strong legs to stand on. But to me...this is more of a passion. We are missing something here in Sarasota radio and I am going to do my best to get it back.

Thanks for your interest in my station. It is my hope to live up to your standards.

Sincerely,

Susan

Thank you very very much. I can update the pages on my website now to be more accurate thanks to your helpful information.
Thank you again.

Not to bump an old-ish thread, but I wanted to make sure this comment by the new WSRQ owner didn't fall by the wayside...

Susan: Sometimes the truth can be harsh - and you just told the truth. Good luck with the station, I am confident it is in great hands. ;)

I re-read her post and it was the FCC ownership rules that led to the problem of which Susan eluded. I, too, wish her luck. Without going into detail, here, I think she may have the debt accumulated by CC and others, to her advantage.

Life goes through cycles and business is no exception. I can see a day when the smaller companies will embrace, again, what was left ignored by the larger companies because of the debt which was accumulated during those times of 18x multiples.
