WSTN

While looking up something else, I found that the FCC lists Swaggart-owned WSTN (1410 AM. Somerville TN) as silent since October 25, 2006, but still licensed. Impressive since these licenses are usually cancelled after one year of silence and this is well past the five-year mark. Could they still be locked in a dispute over the transmitter site? Why would that keep them stringing along for five years instead of being forced to find a new site or hand in the license? What I'm asking is... what the heck?

If it's still owned by Swaggart I'd rather see it stay silent. ::)

Two other items I noticed from this list:

WFUL 1290 in Fulton, KY (Right on the border of West TN) is silent since September. I wonder what's happening there.

WCTA 810 in Alamo (Where I live) is no longer listed. I guess they're definitely off for good.

Unless they moved frequencies, WFUL is, or apparently was, on 1270. I worked there briefly in the early '90s when they were WKZT. They were also off the air for a while there in the mid '80s.

You're right. I probably just typed the wrong number.
