WSVN to have new offices in Miramar

The New offices for WSVN and ABC Miami is estimated to open in 2027.

Sunbeam Television broke ground on a new Miramar facility that will house WSVN and WDFL as both stations continue serving the Miami market.
The eight-acre site will include studios, production centers and offices, with the building expected to open by January 2027.
Executives say the move expands operational capacity and supports long-term growth, modernization and stronger local news service.

Wow that leaves WFOR since WTVJ and WPLG are also in Broward.

Channel 7 has been pn the island for a long time!

Yep. But where they are located... they are prone to hurricanes and severe flooding. Plus, I think WSVN's current building has now become too small for its current operations and needs as WSVN 7 but also as Sunbeam overall.

I don't know about too small. Since 1956 equipment has shrunk in size. Smaller cameras, production equipment, transmitters, are mostly solid state. Computers have done much to decrease personnel all around. I saw this first hand at WBTV which has been in their current building about a year longer than WSVN.

Flooding would be a concern but I never heard of any talk about it. I only remember Channel 7 using their beautiful outdoor location for The Phil Donahue Show once. So the waterfront condos would be a better use of the property.

The WIOD studios/offices have been deserted for a long time and I believe just the transmitter is there. The land is worth more than the radio station or possibly the transmitter can be relocated.

WIOD moved to wetlands west of Kendall some years back and upped power to 50 kw day and 20 kw nights. The story I heard is that a former Clear Channel GM forgot to renew the tower land lease, and they had to move.

Radio-Locator still gives the old location and the FCC has the new data but not the pattern. I do see in addition to the power increase they have 4 towers (2 more than before) and it looks like separate patterns day and night.

The old North Bay Village site seems ripe for redevelopment. I’m sure a developer will build some lovely waterfront condos. The land must be worth a fortune.

Sunbeam's real estate division is already on it with plans once WSVN moves out.
