I don't know but the way our society is going today, I believe God needs all the stations he can get. Now the only question is...is any one listening?

My memory isn't what it used to be...was WTCG the old call letters of the Atlanta tv station that later became WTBS? I worked a lot of Braves baseball in the late 70's riding the board and there was a promo for the station with Con FunkShun's "Ffun" song...

Always thought God didn't need AM, FM, TV or SW because He operates one big station that broadcasts on its own universal wavelength with massive bandwidth and you really don't need a radio to tune it in. It's that powerful.

I view religion as a personal thing. It might have something to do with my Catholic upbringing. I think these stations end up preaching to the converted.

His reach is powerful, but unfortunately lots of people are listening on old sets with broken filters and they're too lazy and apathetic to even reach for the rabbit ears, much less try another rig.
He reaches who he wants to reach though, not everybody. ;)

They reach a lot of unconverteds too. Not all at once, unfortunately, so it's easier to discount their impact, but they still reach anyone who is looking for them nonetheless, often when they need to be reached most.

That may be true, but is his station the new HD with iTunes Tagging? I think not!

LOL. Genuinely funny take. Maybe the Big Guy tags with the Holy Spirit, eh. ;-) Not that I'm Mr. Religious or Mr. Righteous by any means. I'm just sayin'.

If you can read, and you are searching, all you need is the Bible. You don't need 10 different religions telling you that their way is the only way. I'm just sayin'...

What does the methods that God uses to reveal himself have to do with the exclusivity claims of any religions? Those are different issues. One can't prove or deny the other.

Sometimes if you're, say, cruising to Cracktown or a strip club or to do something else you know is wrong, and God speaks to you about repentance at that moment, you might not have a Bible handy. Maybe all you have is a poorly-produced reminder on a tinny AM signal.

In all seriousness...and I am a Christian...and a "conservative" one at that, just to be specific. Has "Southern Gospel" ever done well or would it now in Charlotte? Has Charlotte EVER had a Southern Gospel station? There are some Southern Gospel stations that somewhat "rimshot" Charlotte like Carl Ford's stations WRKB/WRNA on the NE side of town -- and several years ago Ford also had the 1370 signal when it was a Gastonia station in the Eastridge Mall parking lot. Joy FM from Winston-Salem also gets some signal into the metro -- from a full power FM in Hickory/Claremont and translators in Belmont, Indian Trail, and Harrisburg. However, it's doubtful these signals penetrate downtown office buildings.

I think Southern Gospel done well could do well.

I have this memory of WHVN doing Southern gospel but they've always been mostly talk or, if they played any music at all, conservative music.

WEGO reaches some of the area and they did Southern gospel years ago. They were simulcasting the station that is now WPZS.

Also, WGSP-FM was Southern gospel and they didn't increase their signal at first when they went Spanish. So they must have reached the southern part of the area.

WTCG/870 apparently has a good signal---great reception here in Indian Land SC---only WBT is better on AM. I would assume the signal covers all of Mecklenburg very well, and big parts of adjacent counties since it is non-directional. What a shame someone didn't do something interesting with this signal....I'm thinking big band, classic country, R&B oldies, progressive talk, even bluegrass. All format holes which have some following and are not represented in CLT. What a shame.....

Years ago when WLXN in Lexington was a Jesus Station, there was a young fellow that went into the GM's office and told him that he could not change something about the station because it belonged to the Lord! The next week, the young fellow found that he had been cut back to parttime.. The Lord works in mysterious ways!!! BIGAPE!

Do you really think a person headed to a strip club or going to "Cracktown" is listening to a tinny AM signal or for that matter even aware of AM?

I've heard stories, so it must happen. If God wants it to happen, it will. ;)

What a waste of a signal. How many people do you think listen to this? I guess less than 50! In a city of a million! The sound quality is horrid. It sounds like someone connected an over modulated telephone as the audio feed. Yuck!

This station is Gods work!!!! Praise it!!! Jesus saves! We sound help these blessed stations as much as possible!!! PRAISE GOD!! Jesus Christ is LORD and Savior!!! God bless all!!!!!
