"New 102.7" can claim that it's a homage to their historic WNEW-FM call letters. How long will they get away with calling it "The New 96.5?" Although I can eventually see it just becoming "New 96.5" like sister "New 102.7" in NYC

Backstreet boys "All I have to give"Just looking at what they've played since 9am, this doesn't look like too much of a change, musically. Alanis and Tupac probably wouldn't have been there (and maybe Rolling in the Deep as well). But otherwise, it's all stuff I would expect to hear if I tuned to 96.5.
Just as I wrote this, they’re replaying the first song they used to launch this station, I’m good by David Guetta / Bebe Rexha…..As the morning is progressing, their music is changing song by song. Currently playing All I Have To Give by Backstreet Boys and just a few songs earlier was Kiss Me by Sixpence None The Richer. I guess they’ll be playing with the mix more as we progress through the week.
If the jock is V Hale as the website says, then she's tracked from Alice in San Francisco, per RadioInsight.Backstreet boys "All I have to give"
DO not see that on the CHR format of old. they didn't go tback that far.
Also a live DJ at 11:30 in the morning that isn't VT? that's new.
Yeah I looked at Lances post after I posted here.If the jock is V Hale as the website says, then she's tracked from Alice in San Francisco, per RadioInsight.
Based, as usual, on individual songs that don't fit the poster's personal concept of what should be played on a station that's playing other songs that the poster is OK with. Train wreck! Dumpster fire! Fire the PD! He doesn't know what he's doing! And so the armchair QB-ing begins
Fine. The people who were listening early this morning probably aren't listening at 11:45, and even if they were, that's a song with a lot of appeal across the AC and CHR spectrum and most of them didn't mind hearing it again.Just as I wrote this, they’re replaying the first song they used to launch this station, I’m good by David Guetta / Bebe Rexha…..
3 hours between plays for what the station may be classifying as a current is typical for Hot AC, especially with a song that’s been very popular and successful on the format.Just as I wrote this, they’re replaying the first song they used to launch this station, I’m good by David Guetta / Bebe Rexha…..
Country music goes through hot and cold periods. This is definitely one of the hottest in a while. I doubt Audacy would even be considering selling WXTU if it owned the station today.BTW - regarding the comments about country prior to this - remember, Entercom/Audacy owned WXTU. They opted to sell it back to Beasley.

Of course he knew. He's Music Director, and probably was part of the local team implementing the corporate decisions.I think benit knew of the format change. Check out these two clips .
First recorded at around 7:50, and the next about 8:25 this morning. The entire "Feel Good Vibe" Hot AC format was definitely eluded too.

The main reason Hot AC has not exhibited much staying power in the past is because those stations were chasing the same listeners and ad dollars as 101.1. As a cluster complement to 101.1, I think the potential is higher for longer term success.
