wtf 92.3 NOW!!!

Oh so is this where the Elvis Duran show on KMVA is broadcasting from? All the way from New York? Geez... and yet they are still one of the best morning shows in Phoenix by default. The morning show sound alright for an adult top 40 station that plays "It's kinda easy when you listen to the G'd up sound" by Warren G along with Neon Trees, John Mayer, Kris Allen, Kings Of Leon, Michael bubble, and Breakfast at Tiffany's by Deep Blue Something with some other rhythmic hits and back in the day stuff like "lets talk about sex".

So, I'm guessing based on the fact that no one in the Phoenix section is talking about KMVA but people in New York are talking badly about NOW, KMVA must be much much much better than NOW! ;D

(Don't get me wrong - I don't hate KMVA, and I do listen to them more WITH the Elvis Duran show, but I just don't see the need for KMVA to be playing "computer love" by Zap and "I need love" by LL Cool J...etc as back in the day double play hits when the main format is now adult top 40 & pop & pop/rock. I'm thinking NOW couldn't be this chaotic with their music playlists...)

And where exactly does Warren G fit into all this? Oh, and by the way, KMVA also has Ryan Seacrest and all these out of town people as well. Hmmm... I guess NOW should go Adult Top 40 like KMVA!!!

I would rather listen to Chunky than Ryan Seacrest. At least Chunky is local and engages the audience with his sense of humor. I don't care for celebrity talk from a jock 3000 miles away. The best show on 92.3 is TicTak, I said that from day 3 when his 92.3 show was announced. His show was the best CHR night show I ever heard when he used to be on Q102.

Chunky is a train wreck and Mo is fun and polished. So maybe you ARE Chunky. As for Elvis, his show was never about local. They talk about general appealing topics. Not what pizza place is best in Manhattan . Their ratings are higher since syndicated than ever before so your logic doesn't work. It's about the music and the humor and the content. 2 things that 92.3 Now does not have in ANY day part.

Mo Bounce is fun and polished? OK, I'll give you polished, because he sounds like every other boring CHR jock who is just pushing the brand.

With Elvis, you have 14 people in the room all talking at once with phone taps... ooh, original *yawn*

This is all so hilarious lol. Keep going!! I enjoy the "know it alls". You continue, and I'll keep collecting my paychecks, having a blast working at the world famous Z100 and knowing I worked my ass off for the last 12 yrs to get here through many mistakes, lessons learned and being laid off or fired. Being born and raised in Bklyn, this is a dream which I hope to never wake up. And the locals on here, I'd expect to understand that more than anyone. People still seem to forget that this is freakin' fun! Don't look so deep into it. Relax people haha. Evan (Chunky) is having fun, so am I! I run into Chunky at our local post office, since we live in the same neighborhood, and we chit chat and laugh at things like this. Point is... We do what we love in our own styles. And I think you guys take it more serious than we do. And THATS what is hilarious here. ;D

I, just like many other "radio success stories", have dealt with jealousy, criticism and hate my entire career. And where has that gotten me? Z100, I guess.

It could be worse ;)

There should be a newstalk radio station dedicated to radio people. Now THAT would be interesting. The PPM's could be used only amongst the people who care about radio to keep the ratings fair. But then again, if we did that, then we'd also have to do a newstalk format for everything else as well.

NOW isn't a bad CHR station. They do have a tight play list and some on air staff sound more midmarket but their CHR rhythmic lean fills a niche.
Unfortunately it seems to me that CBS hasn't invested as much in NOW-NYC as they have with AMP-LA.

Honestly, I think both WHTZ/Z1OO and WXRK/92.3Now are doing what they were designed to do.. Play the Hit music.. Though I have to say, I have fallen out of CHR Music. I find myself leaning more AC or Niche Radio listening with alot of HD2 stations. For the fact that I find the Jocks with a few here and there on Both sound like drones.. On Z, they all have that same sound. And Now, some of the Jock's just sound like their still not from here.. With exception of CHUNKY & BUSTER. Those two have melted in nicely.

But granted I grew up listening to Radio where the DJ was still a huge part of the formula With stations like WQHT/Hot1O3&97 (era'86-'93), Then POWER-95 & Of course the Hot Rockin-Flame Throwin Z.. Had Jocks who had their own signature sound and style. Z & Hot sounded diff from ea. other on Both stations.. Bway Bill Lee wasn't sounding like Freddy Colon @ HOT. And on Z, Patty Steel was sure not like Susan Leigh Taylor or Even Lisa Taylor at that. And at Then POWER"95" Domino surely wasn't a carbon copy of Dave Stewart.. Might point to keep from rambling on is, Jock's today on a CHR station all sound the same.. No differential boundaries to differ the afternoon guy with the weekend'er or the late nighter..

But todays radio Teen isn't gonna call or lock the station in to hear the fav. DJ! It's when is Eminem or Ke$ha coming up? So to wrap my view point up.. The Music has and always will be what makes the station, not the jock!

Mo' Bounce Z100

Just wanted to say we Hot listeners here in Houston miss ya Mo. Glad you are havin fun in NY.

MoBounce follows a fine time line tradition in NY radio...
and as someone who's done feature interviews with Cousin Brucie,Murray The K, and Scott Shannon when he first came to NYC, I think I know great Top 40 radio when I hear it...Bounce on,Mo!

on this board, light hearted takes a back seat, unfortunately...
I think some folks here rallied to NOW hoping that it would turn into 'dance central' and somehow bring dance records back into the mainstream..
they don't realize that these days, every top 40 record is tested to death, and if dance in general was testing well,or showing up on top of the itunes sales chart, it would be reflected at CHR..
so they lash out at a station like Z because it actually does what it's supposed to do...play the hits!!

Jimi,

You may be stunned by this but hey, this is me as of late....but I'm not seeking for 92.3 NOW to go with a dance format.

However, you do have the perennial winner out of Z-100 for the longest time, so what do you do different that they're NOT doing? Sprinkle in SOME dance into their current playlist. Z-100 can't really do that since they have to "protect" 'KTU" whose lean is more rhythmic based anyway. 92.3 NOW may be struggling but I still think they have a shot with CHR. CBS Radio has the "pockets" to do it.

And if they using an identifier like "Pulse" to promote their Saturday Night dance party and the music would be similar, then hey...great! :) But I'm not seeking NOW to be a dance station. But you also can't ignore the fact that as of late, things have been shifting cyclically in favor of dance/rhythmic based tracks. I saw it in Beatstock.

There are about 5 people in the room and you are old and out of touch sounding. They seem to be #1 in their demos in most of their affiliates. Clearly you are not their demo.
