WTXF Gone From Cablevision

While the impact isn't felt as strong in Philadelphia (where Comcast is the leading MSO) as it is in New York, there are still several customers in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area that have been affected by the stalemate between Cablevision and News Corp., owner of Fox, whose WTXF/29 was blacked out early Saturday morning after the last contract expired. Thus far, Cablevision subscribers have missed the first two games of the NLCS featuring the defending league champion Phillies (series tied at 1-1) as well as an Eagles victory on Sunday.

Cablevision doesn't serve any South Jersey areas, but it does service areas in Mercer County and other areas in Central NJ.

Well, it's not just Philly, but NYC too.  They missed the Football Giants Sunday.  And can you imagine if the Phils and Yanks are in the series?  Holy hit the fan batman!  No coverage of either hometown team in Market 1&8.  The advertisers will blow a gasket, not to mention the viewers.  \

Now, yesterday, the FCC issued a Consumer Advisory, basically:  switch carriers!

As was noted in the initial post...

I have a feeling that if the Yankees and Phillies are both eliminated (both teams are down in their respective series at the time of this posting) and neither make it to the World Series, I have a funny feeling that Fox is going to be as lethargic as ever when it comes to negotiating with Cablevision. Now, if the Yankees come back and force a Game 7 (which isn't unheard of in the current era of postseason baseball), you watch how quickly Fox changes their tune.

Here's what I'm not getting. Cablevision's availability only covers the New York and Philadelphia markets. And yet, Fox wants to charge them as if they're carrying every Fox and MyNetworkTV O&O under NewsCorp ownership. Only carrying 3 NewsCorp owned broadcast OTA stations and those few cable channels only warrants what Cablevision offered NewsCorp. NewsCorp should consider that.
