Adam is a fantastic talent! My poorly illustrated point was that he is good enough to have been recruited to larger and larger markets and has done very well there. I don't understand why people have dumped on him here.

It's funny because Adam lies about his Q100 ratings on his myspace too.

yes!!! He does what's he's told, and he fits what "out of touch radio PDs" think a night jock should look and sound like! This is the problem with radio and why it's falling apart. PD think, Oh he did nights in market 9, he must be GREAT! I would rather have a guy that WINS in market 180 than someone who loses everytime he opens the mic in market 9.
The kid has NEVER won but keeps failing upward.

The point for anyone is succeed and move upward. If that means doing what he's told by the PD, so be it! What is the problem with that? I believe that listening to your supervisor is S.O.P. for everyone in every industry.
What's the point of being unemployed or making $18-20K a year at market #180 because you don't agree with what your PD tells you to do? God bless you if that makes you feel fulfilled, but most of us have bills to pay, so that just doesn't cut it.
Truth be told, he puts on a very good show. His weren't the only ratings that were bad at the old B94. That's why they were flipped to begin with. Kiss's ratings weren't all that better because CHR was on a major slide at that point. I doubt very seriously that your market #180 talent would have faired any better.

You shouldn't be defending "WHY IT DOESN'T WORK" you should be asking yourself "WHY DOESN'T IT WORK?"
At the end of the day, it should be about whats comes out of those little speakers and if it appeals to the demo. If it doesn't win, then it's NOT doing it's job.
If you can't hit the ball in the minors, you should never be put into the majors.
And that's the point.

I gotta be honest with you guys, I personally have never heard Adam Bomb on the air here or anywhere for that matter. If the guy jumps to the ninth largest market in the country, he's gotta be doing something right. Whether or not we're in agreement with what he's doing is immaterial.
Howard Stern and Mancow are two good examples of irreverent jocks who managed to buck the system and still make it. However, talent like theirs is more the exception, rather than the norm. I personally don't care for their brand of radio, but their job is to draw attention and grab ratings. They've been proving they can do just that for years.
On average, jocks today are a dime a dozen. They were then, and they are now. If they don't play the game, they get the sack. Period.
One thing that has not been brought up yet:
Do you all realize that CBS has been returning formats? It all started in New York with CBSFM, and has now trickled to WBZwhatever. The point is, I am seeing a pattern here. Anybody else?

Funny that you are playing it off like you are above the pettiness Adam, seeing you were the one who was "prank calling" djs in Pittsburgh when you were already in Miami for 6 months. That's why you didn't win there. Now you should be trying to beat star so you can truly say "the number one top 40 in Atlanta, but you are posting on message boards! Stop paying attention to other markets and get some ratings for once in your life.

On the other hand, I have to say that I'm excited about the return of a heritage station to Pittsburgh. My fellow co-workers are cautiously optimistic about it as well, but it's kind of subdued. To me, it seems like a girl who was dumped by a guy, and now is begging her to take him back. She wants to, but is afraid to get hurt again.
Anyway, that's my psycho-analysis for the day...

That image pretty much made my week! I am so excited to see B94 come back...I was disappointed to see it leave the year before I was coming to the area for college. My family is from here so I was always able to listen to it when I came into the area to visit. I'm so pumped I will finally be able to hear it when I want! PS I lived in the northeast corner of Ohio on Lake Erie and remember it came in perfectly clear one night and called the Saturday night shoutout party and Adam Bomb put me on the air (He asked me if I could see his big stick from all the way up there) haha That was my first time on the radio and I will never forget it!!
