I was watching a rerun of The Simpsons a few days ago and rediscovered why I stopped watching it on channel 43 in the first place. The audio is very muddy. Whenever Homer said a line under his breath, you couldn't hear it and the joke is lost! Has anyone else noticed this? It's like there is a noise gate set way too high, and very bad high frequency response. Could this be a bad tape machine playing it back?
Years ago I remember some wierd audio problems would happen during Star Trek: The Next Generation and Voyager too when the audio went out of phase for 10 seconds at a time and you wouldn't be able to hear the dialog, just the sound effects in the background. Could this be bad audio processing, or dirty tape heads?
