WUFC 1510 to libertarian talk in June

Yet did you ever notice how much "Madison Avenue" uses the songs from the 60s for TV advertisements? The latest being the Kinks "All day and all of the night" for Yoplait yogurt.

Do they use today's music to sell stuff?

What I don't understand is that the younger generation is abandoning radio for Pandora, iHeartradio, etc and the old geezers are listening to it. There must be a place for an older audience especially on AM.

Donna Halper was mentioning on boston-radio-interest that talk radio listeners are almost 70 in median age and mostly conservative, white, male. She said ad money was drying up, and the Fluke controversy (Rush) didn't help and that sports talk is drawing bigger, younger, audiences and we have more than enough of that in this town.

And now, even though 1510 supposedly will have SOME sports, we'll be left with 93.7, 98.5, and the ESPN stuff on 850.
The Herald seems to still think 1510 runs the Sox in Spanish (apparently not, with the flagship, 1490, being way up in Haverhill). One of the new shows, Mohr, is sports I think and they'll still have some college sports, but the Yahoo shows and local stuff (Bawstin Diehards being based here, but also on sat. radio) may be going away..or maybe not. That's the info
we're waiting to hear now.

The Yahoo sports shows are the most boring radio I have ever heard. I really don't care how Texas A&M is doing. What a waste of a frequency for a long time.

There is here in the Boston area, WJIB 740 AM (and WJTO 730 AM/98.3 FM on coastal Maine). They don't do PPM, but when they were rated in the old Arbitron diary system a few years ago, they got phenomenal numbers 65+, and often broke a "1" share in the all-ages. But, sponsors don't care about that age group, and owner Bob Bittner doesn't want commercials on the station anyway, so it is listener supported with annual on-air fund drives, which do well.

Also, WAZN 1470 AM is running the "Music of Your Life" satellite service nights and weekends, and WCAP 980 AM Lowell, which could be heard in much of greater Boston and northward when their transmitter is putting out its full 5000 watts (not lately again), runs their "Beatles (era) And Before" automated oldies format at times nights and weekends. The problem is that not that there isn't an older audience, it's that most sponsors (supposedly) don't feel that it's worth paying the stations to advertise to an older, more thrifty audience.

My point, exactly, Jimmy. The young'uns that programmers think they're going to reach are not listening, dammit. I teach college-age students and most of them NEVER turn on the radio even in their cars, let alone at home or anywhere else.

Don't know if they're keeping the calls, but I see the domain name 1510wufc.com has been parked at GoDaddy. Don't know if this is for the new LMA/eventual new owners or if it was done awhile ago

Googling Prussman and Levy reveals that both have appeared on the Howard Stern Show. So this should be a comedy talk show rather than libertarian talk.

Yes; I found it by searching "WUFC 1510" on twitter. Her profile says comic/speaker/actress.
As I understand it the Dr K show on WILC, and WUFC (Kevin Wallis, as in Wallis Broadcasting) is billed as a comedy show (maybe
some libertarian talk). It was said WUFC like WILC in Laurel, MD is being billed as libertarian and lifestyle talk.

1510wufc.com may have been registered recently. It now says "1510wufc.com is almost here! Dreamhost"

1510wufc.com lists
6a Dr K
9 a Glenn Beck
Noon Dr K (not Mohr? )
3p Alex Jones
9p Bob Levy (Stacey Prussman is sidekick)
Mid CFR
4a Wolfman Jack

Alex Jones and his anti-New World Order paranoia and conspiracy theories sandwiched between two comedy shows? Old Wolfman Jack shows in the wee hours? This is going to be one bizarre station.

Not long ago it was prog talk, sports, (incl Sox in Spanish),Brother Stair overnight etc
Maybe some libertarians are the Gene Burns/Brudnoy/Dennis Miller type while
others are conspiracy theory. And it's the Wolfman from beyond
the grave, baby! Think he also runs on their WILC in Md.

A college classmate ('84) tells me he likes Dr K (on
already in Brockton, right?) but not Beck or JT

Yeah, the one they have for WILC Laurel MD may be a bit better. But they're workin' on it.
Looks like the midnight show is actually station GM, comic Bryan Berner

They still don't have anything listed for 6 pm tho we've been hearing it's JT The Brick. JT and Looney are hinting at it
on Twitter but not saying where; I got on and said we believe it's 1510.

Since 1996 we have had the biggest night show in #Boston on both #WEEI and The Sports Hub. No debate. We are now officially back again!

LooneyAboutSports ‏@LooneyonFox 2h

Great to be back on the radio in Boston starting MONDAY!

They'll be re-running Alex Jones 1-4 am.
The site now has a rotating banner with shows, etc. though still no mention of JT
The site has a listen live link which for now is relaying G Beck's Blaze Radio Network (the place Severin went to)

Remember to have your yelled phone call sufficiently rehearsed or scripted otherwise you'll get POW!!ed off the air and called weak.

Or JT will yell out (or play an mp3 of himself
yellin, TIIIIME!!! Tho it sounds more like
TOWWWWN! Yes you can't be half asleep
(in his current slot that's less likely) and like
the late Butch from the Cape you must prepare
your call and 'sound off like you got a pair'.

And his score update guy is Looney...
about sports! (His own theme is also
the theme from "ALF"...)

Even if the "new" WUFC site doesn't reflect it yet, JT Tweeted:
>>We are back on the air in #Boston on Monday from 6-9pm est on the All New 1510 WUFC.Fired up to be on in Boston and interact with great fans
