WURK Elwood Sold To EMF

LOL gr8! ...makes me wonder if Dan Aykroyd got his inspration there if he (by chance) was driving through that hilljack communuty and was abhorred by the racism under the thinly veiled guise of arch-conservatism that still exits there...obviously, it was adressed in both Blues Brothers movies....but on a more positive note, local fundamentalist,Pentecostal and independant churches have been also a part of that community's history, which also happens to be located in the stomping ground of gospel music legend Bill Gaither(who was also a student at Church of God-owned Anderson Univesity decades ago)....which needless to say makes the Roman Catholics in that region just as much a religious and ethenic minority as well as the african-americans and hispanics there. The Knights of Columbus would not stand for a cross burning (let alone a "get US out of the U.N." advert) in one's back yard.

K-LOVE is definately on a mission from God...but since there have been discussions on these boards about a K-LOVE in Spanish, that might better fill a niche for the central Indiana hispanic community as well for the summer migrants working for the likes of Red Gold,Fettig Canning and Stokely-Van Camp since there is already an English K-LOVE repeater coming from Muncie. 101.7 in the 70s did some weekend Spanish langiage programming for the Hispanic locals back in the 1970s...so that freqency would be better well suited for them instead of the Aryan extremists who preached their gospel of hate there many years sgo.

It was mentioned as an inquiry on the Ohio boards recently...so far no answers to that inquiry.. I should have clairified it earlier so pardon my error..so far it's only speculation amid a potential rumor.

Looks Like EMF is taking full control of WURK Elwood tomorrow. Backyard broadcasting has split off 101.7 from the WERK Simulcast of 101.7/104.9 by Airing a repeating loop of telling 101.7 listeners to turn over to 104.9 for the Oldies you want to listen as Oldies wont be on 101.7 in 2010

A friend suggested a possibility...could My1079 be a decoy to throw everyone off track & Oldies be launch on or about Jan 1? Stranger things have happened.

Is/was that station in a stucco building? Is that correct?

Seems as though I once looked to purchase the station in the 70's - but there were multiple problems?

I'm still going to say the chances of 107.9 becoming an oldies station are slim and none.
Sadly, I think you're right...but a guy can dream.

The station was in a standard wood frame building with wood siding when it went on the air in the mid 60s. The station building was expanded in the late 60s or early 70s with the addition of a mobile home connected to the main structure. The mobile home housed a conference room, offices and storage. The lobby, studios and transmitter were in the original structure.

Well...it's 2010. What's on 101.7 this morning?

How many copies of Devil with a Blue Dress did they have?
The copies of Devil With A Blue Dress, as well as Devil In Disguise by Elvis stayed with the previous owners. WURK returned to the air as K-Love on Jan 5th.
