Having been the Production Director (72), Program Director (73) and Chief Engineer (74) for WVUM while attending the U I can tell you that it was a great training ground for broadcasters back then. A lot of Alums went on to pretty successful careers in broadcasting. Skip Herman was there in 70 - Herman of Herman and McBean. Dave Van Dyke was there at the same time and ended up the GM or KCBS for over a decade. Me, had some success in the business as a jock, PD, VP, CEO, and Owner. There were many others that went on to great success from WVUM. What they're doing now? Who knows. I do know that the Communications Department no longer teaches any radio courses - the rational being that "nobody wants to be on the radio these days". What a crock.
