WWTN's CP

I just noticed WWTN got a CP approved on December 17th. The city of license will be changed to Hendersonville, and the stick will rise a measly two feet.

I'm sure the antenna change is merely clerical, I don't think anyone's going up the tower to move the antenna.

This is part of the upgrade for 106.7. Apparently 106.7 can't get a city-grade across Belle Meade from the new site, so they have to change their city-of-license, and chose Millersville.

But that leaves Belle Meade without a radio station. FCC won't let you do that. So 97.1 changes its city-of-license from Goodlettsville to Belle Meade.

But that leaves Goodlettsville without a station. So 92.1 changes its city-of-license to Goodlettsville.

But that leaves Hendersonville without a station. Hence, the change to WWTN.

(the chain ends there, because Manchester will still have WMSR-AM 1320 and WFTZ-FM 101.5)

Nobody except 106.7 is actually doing anything to their transmitter.

Hi Doug,
At that height, it will be interesting if there is any change by 106.7 moving up the antennal 2 feet. Doubt there will be much change, but I can be wrong!

This took Crumy a long time to get all this through the FCC. What exactly will the 106.7 benefit be?
If they can get a city grade over Belle Meade now, but will be worse after the "upgrade" then that
means they'll penetrate better in exactly where? Sorry, to lazy to look up the info up.

Re: WWTN's CP et al

FCC requires some 'side stepping' to get what you want - sometimes.

106.7 to upgrade from A to C3 required finding a clear location. That was found to be NNW of Millersville. This is why the COL change was needed. After the COL change was ok'd an application for the American tower (channel 30) with a slight directional reduction toward Laurenceburg was made and approved.

BTW 92.1 changed COL to their transmitter location south side of Goodlettsville. This gives them 'wiggle room' to move transmitter closer to downtown while keeping COL coverage as required.
