Why the HELL did P & K do a TV spot with Bob Lavelle (Home Mortgage Servise...bless your heart guy)? My Mom asked me what the connection was. I told her someone (P or K) might have done business (and got a loan) from the guy. (have we already covered this subject? If we did, I is so sorry. I ken has a cheezeburger now?)

Hi Channing. I agree. It Sounds like a little old fashioned quid pro quo exchange. Lavelle is a funny guy contrasted with P&K. Excuse me for repeating myself, but that commercial really brings out the fugly of K. Too, as a writer I must say that whomever penned that bit made a very poor connection. It's akin to placing John Wayne in a Batman movie. It doesn't work.

The latter is an eclectic mix of rock true enough, but one I find to be a good one.

An eclectic mix? Seriously? AC/DC, followed by three Metallica/Metallica clones, followed by a Zeppelin tune. Repeat as needed. Perhaps you don't understand the meaning of "eclectic."

You need to free yourself from the Jack Black School of Rock definition of rock 'n roll. Here is a little test to help you do just that. Next time you hear a rock song close your eyes and imagine Jack Black. If, in your head, he is playing air guitar to that song then you know it is bad. If he is playing air guitar in his underwear change stations immediately. Do not take this test while operating heavy machinery.

John Wayne would make an excellent Riddler in a Batman movie . "well haw haw haw haw .pilgtim" "Riddle me this partner, what has air but can not breathe?' later sister"

Albert, I can see that you've not been listening with any regularity. Maybe you need to listen more. I have heard songs on The Bone I've not heard in years on the radio.

It is unfortunate that P&K are hogging up good air time with their mindless banter.

A proctology exam is a more pleasant experience than listening to pugs and kelly. as for the Bone..just a cumulus write off.

Scotty -

I listen only during P&K. I gave up on music radio years ago. Now my music needs are satisfied through my mp3 player. That said, the music selection during P&K appears to follow the formula I described, and during the music segments my mp3 player carries me through.

I like The Bone and Gary Thompson. Having said that, I'm not keen on the P&K show. While I can appreciate Gary's attempt to mix talk and music, it's P&K that are souring the 2-6 pm slot, not the music. The latter is an eclectic mix of rock true enough, but one I find to be a good one.

With regard to Bone remotes, the venue changes from week to week, thus the Kingsley location is not indicative of the SOP of the show locales. Mind you, I attended the P&K show live a week ago yesterday in Frisco. Here's what I came away with.

The staff on site was their excellent selves, that is, the promo team. However, P&K (unlike all former hosts of the Bone's BITW Friday's) sat behind a table in a corner as if they were King and Queen expletive. Absolutely no attempt was made to interact with the patrons as former DJ's did. There was a distinct dichotomy between them and those who were customers.

Moreover, Ms Thang was acting bitchy because she couldn't figure out how to get her precious little laptop connected to the Internet. I overheard her hollering downline about it. And wow, I never realized how unattractive she was. Pugs on the other hand had wifey there supervising him.

Yes, I left after an hour, disappointed. Friday's with The Bone used to be a somewhat fun occasion but even that has been relegated to an experience on par with a trip to the dentist.

As for me and my house, we'll just say NO to P&K.

I don't see what the whole big deal is with people thinking that they are jerks. I am a quiet, shy person, but when I have seen them out in the past at remotes and at appearances, they have been great to me. Warm, inviting, come up to you and talk to you and try to make it comfortable for you. I am in no way friends with them outside the show, but they seem to remember me, respond to my e-mails and even really listen to what I have to say. I would say they are far from jerks. I think we Texans seem to take any sign of ignoring someone even for a short time as rude. It is just a wierd thing. I happen to think people up north are nice if you just give them a chance and we take for granted those things. Pugs even gave me tickets for ACL fest in austin at the Frisco appearance you speak of, and it was a great weekend I had.

Albert you need to get out more. P&K have to be pleasant on location at the convenience stores. The client pays for that. They are also desperate for someone to like them

The could shoot hobos at appearances for all I care. I don't go to radio appearances. I enjoy their show. The music still disrupts the flow but that has been discussed to death here. I'd like to see more time for listener call-ins, but that's just my opinion.

How's KLLI doing? It seems like forever since I last tuned in.

Caught the last bit of B&S. They seem to be getting worse, not better.
And listened to the first 30-45 of Russ. I'm pretty sure it was "Best Of".
Hard to tell these days. ;D

Wayne is being disingenous with regard to the Frisco live remote hosted by P&K. That he received tickets from Pugs I don't doubt. But what he failed to tell you was that the place looked like Galveston shorty after Ike hit, i.e., it was barren. I refused the same tickets as I had no plans to go to Austin.

Moreover, for a considerable period of time I sat there with a friend and not one person was approached by King and Queen Expletive. Someone remarked that we Texans consider that rude. For what it is worth, that's not necessarily a Texas "thing" but rather one born of common courtesy nationwide.

Just sayin'.

How is not mentioning how many people attended that remote being disingenuous?
Moreoever, why is it important to feel like radio hosts are your friends?
Disclaimer: I never got why Pugs n Kelly were even on the air, as it sounded like superficial tripe.

Scotty does seem to hold a bit of personal animus regarding the P&K show. It borders on obsessive, really. The type of thing you see in unrequited love.

Well they do have a job to do, and I think that when they have these short music breaks, it is hard to really get into a conversation with someone. I think they try more than other personalities. When I have been somewhere where Jagger or Mondo have been, they just kinda blow you off and don't care that you are talking to them. I have purposely never gone to apperances because I get that feeling. However, when I am wanting to be out somewhere and they are there, I can maybe have a good time. P&K are one of the few people that I would seek out because they are so friendly. I think that you expect them to cater to your every want or something. It is not like that. I hate that you consider someone not saying hi disingenuous. Maybe it is you or your friends. They are not the greeter at a wal-mart or casino you know. I just think that people like to frame these opinions of someone in their head and do what they can to not shatter that opinion. I bet if you actually tried to talk to them, they would be as pleasant as they are to me.

"Just Sayin" (because losers who have nothing of value to say are just sayin)

I've only gone up to pugs once at a Leykis appearance and just said love the show; he was very nice asked my name, shook my hand and said thanks. Thought he was pretty cool.

Once sat at a table with 4 or 5 Ticket guys back when the evening show broadcasted from Ben’s Yard House and not one of them said a word to any of us all night.

[EDIT] I merely stated my case. Quite frankly, I could care less about you or them. None of you pay my bills.

With regard to DJ's being ones friends, I've been around radio for over 35 years and that's exactly what I've always expected and received from radion "personalities."

And Wayne, in the same manner that I would not cater to you, I expect no one to cater to me. It's okay that you and Albert like and respect P&K; I can respect that. We'll simply have to agree to disagree as I see it from a completely different viewpoint.

[EDIT-inflammatory]

Now can we move on..let this thread die and along with it any attention given to P&K?It seems thats the only way they can get some.

Rooster Cogburn & Batman together could kick anybody's hiney.
