WWWN "a work in progress" (Robert Feder)

I was REALLY hoping 101.1 was going to be like WMAQ. That was always my 1st choice for news, and always thought WBBM was for the "stiffs."

I really can't even remembe what WMAQ sounded like anymore, but it was my fav.

But 101.1 is a straight up JOKE!! What a SHAME. Even Newsweb coulda done something better with this station, it CANNOT be taken seriously... im sitting in the car sampling it ARE THEY SERIOUS???? WBBM and Chicago are either laughing or crying for the ones missiing Q101.

I could only listen for just a few minutes and it was so terrible I had to shut it off. Is this a joke? For a major market radio station...PLEASE!

I wish it was a joke, but sadly it's for real.

It's funny you mention that, as I have wondered that myself. I have never seen a Facebook page that has such proper spelling and grammar as their page does. Maybe it's sad I noticed that....

Anyway, it's made me wonder if the people posting comments are their "people" in one form or another.

I also wonder what the long term for the station is? At this rate, it's certainly not news/talk.

I actually listened for about 20 minutes during afternoon drive, it was embarrassing.

Do they have a stream up yet?

I hate to say it. No... ??? Every day there is still no stream online, is a day to many and a bunch of listeners excluded.

Maybe they don't want to put it up until they sound decent. Who knows if that will happen?

Their menu consists mostly of four categories: "Weather," "Traffic," "Instant Information" (has "News" become a 'four-letter word', all of a sudden?) and "Shopping."

Now, granted, I'm all for stimulating the economy, but "shopping" is about as much in step with news, weather and traffic, as Fred Durst is with Paul, George and Ringo. Or is "shopping" really what the listeners wanted, when prompted by Mary Ellen Geist on the website earlier?

I'm only going to say they need a LOT more agressive audio processing on the mics.
There is way too much "air" in the mix for news format. Push the levels up and let the processor do some work.
About 10 db more compression and please bring up the 3000-4000 hz so intelligibility easily pierces road noise.

The traffic report especially needs a lot more gain, and if possible, a higher bitrate feed. The codec artifacting
is distracting and partly garbles info.

I like the reverb, but wish there were even more. I didn't even perceive it for a long time, it's way down in the mix.

On the perceived loud-o-meter they are a "6", like WBEZ running NPR programming.
I think to get people to listen, they'll need to get that up to a 8.5 or 9 like you-know-who on 105.9.
The promos, other canned elements seem quite loud enough, but the mic processing makes the station
sound too mellow to be Chicago.
They don't sound big. I hope they intend to try.

I'll find no faults otherwise for this being still so new.

I'm sure Randy will come by with his "greenie" and do some tweaking on the audio processing.
I'm still not convinced this is not a stunt of some kind. Or maybe I give Randy too much credit. Maybe all the wealth and old age have dulled his golden touch......

And the website is nothing short of dismal! My 9 year old daughter can put up a better site than that.
Who is actually running the show there? This just can't be the work of our brilliant Mr. Randy Michaels......
Still no stream!!??
