WXGL 107.3 plays a rock-leaning version of classic hits from the 70'S and 80'S right. Well with the stations already playing 70's and 80's why not add even more 80's and even add 90's material. I mean I get Cox's point to not fix whats not broken. However the only reason The Eagle has been successful thus far is no Classic Rocker is in this market. WHPT's music is too hard and modern for the Classic Rock Demo and a poor signal north of Tampa/ St.Pete Proper. Not to mention even with its stripped playlist the format WPOI "Point" did well in Tampa
Seeing as Q105 and sometimes Mix 100.7 are the only stations playing music from the 80's. Oh and Mix 100.7 being the only station playing 90's.
Either WXGL could go in a Adult Hits direction or a Hot AC/ Adult Hits hybrid. Or just Hot AC with 1970's.
Pretty much the idea is to still play a core 1970s and 1980's classic hits playlist. However add Rhythmic, Dance, R&B and anything Cox wouldn't normally touch. (Notice the very White oriented play-lists their stations have.) Then add 90's and 2000's on Top. Fuse the Playlist of "The Eagle" with the former "Point". Then add music that pertains to Top 40 Radio from the 1970's til Today. I hope Cox isn't just giving up on former "Point" listeners.
Anyone have hypothetical sample hours of what the hypothetical 107.3 should play as an Adult Hits or Hot AC.
