Just curious how soccer moms and 40 something women who have nothing to do with the radio industry, except listening to it, show up on a radio board to discuss formats? If it's real I think it's great and if I was a programmer I would get all of the info I could. But really, is anyone else a little suspicious? I know a lot of soccers moms and 40 something women and they don't have much time to discuss the ins and outs of programming nor do they care.

I once worked for a station in Lafayette, but it was in sales. I tried to get a position with K105, but for some reason, I didn't get it. I am very familiar with radio, the ins and outs. I always wanted to host a country morning show. I felt it was my calling. Unfortunately, I been called to do other work. Being a soccer mom is great, but being a football mom would be better. I care about what I listen to and what my community hears. I have been on boards since I first learned about them. They are great. If I was a programmer, though, I WOULD take this advice, because I am the listener.

WL Soccer Mom - I can tell you are passionate about Lafayette radio and that is great. It's too bad that programmers don't listen to their listeners to the level that they used to. It is also too bad that most stations are consulted by people who have never been in the market and have no idea what the pulse of a town is or what it's listeners truly want. Those days are sorely missed. That is the main reason we have what we have on the air today and why many people still listen to it. I just can't.

Amen.
It is also the reason for the high demand in pay radio (XM and Sirius)...
I guess it is best to pay for the cow even though the milk is free...

Isn't it Ken?

No. He's now doing afternoons.

A girl is now doing nights, and I'm always passively listening during the talk breaks when she identifies herself.

It sounds like they either put Ashlee back on or maybe moved Kym into the spot. Their on-air voices are similar so I can't tell.

I must admit, after listening this past weekend, they guy on before Kym is pretty good. Jump ship. Come to the competition. You won't last long over there...
