WYAB 103.9 FM is now operating from its C2 (50kW equivalent) location in Jackson

Hey all ---

This week, WYAB 103.9 FM flipped on its FM Class C2 signal (50kW equivalent, 15kW @ 276 meters HAAT) from a tower shared with WJLV 94.7 FM and four FM translators (96.9 FM, 102.5 FM, 103.5 FM, and 106.3 FM) in Jackson.

Here is a coverage map of the new signal:

For anyone who is interested, the station started off as a (very) signal-challenged short-spaced FM Class A facility on 93.1 FM in Yazoo City, about 37 miles away from its current location. It took 22 years and many tower sites to hopscotch its way into Jackson.

Did one jump use a minor change from 93.1 to the 10.8 MHz IF channel 103.9? I've seen hopscotches that went back and forth to non commercial NCE Band and commercial, one for just a translator.

SC -

WYAB 103.9 FM made the IF minor mutually-exclusive channel move from 93.1 FM to 103.9 FM back in 2008.

While a translator may jump from NCE to commercial in certain circumstances, there is no such process for full power stations.
