WYSF Flipping?

I'm not in the Birmingham area, but I have heard from someone who is, about a billboard having something to do with 94.5 flipping. The billboard, I am told is on I-65 North at Oxmoor Rd. Anyone seen it, or have a pic?

I drove through Birmingham today, and didn't see any sign having to do with 'YSF. Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough. I've also heard rumor inside Birmingham radio that they could possibly flip to Hot AC or Oldies.

Dave Mack was really hot and heavy about Birmingham needing an oldies station...maybe he has won them over at Citadel.

I would welcome an Oldies station. I miss the days of 106.9 playing Beatles and other old stuff. It seems like that was the only station my father and I could listen to together and really enjoy ourselves. I'm just sick of the AC thing. It doesn't seem to work anywhere but in doctors' offices and for elevator music.

To help BamaWOLF out, I was the one who saw the billboard. It's tough to say what it means. It had a new logo, still Y94.5, but now with the slogan "Your Entertainment Station". That...kinda fits their current format, but not really.

It just seems like a station in limbo. Ratings aren't bad, but they are considerably worse, on a whole, since the departure of Rick & Bubba. I haven't heard the Mark & Mack & Jil show. I have no desire to.

They were on this particular billboard (If memory serves me correctly). So, they may be going for a lite-talk format.

Birmingham radio is just an embarrassment.

Muddled formats. Saturated formats to c-block competition. I do, in-home repair-work, for a living. I can say for fact that satellite radio is quite popular in Birmingham. One in about every 4 of my customers has it.

Formats like this only encourage its growth.

Hot talk is alot to ask in this very conservative area. But, it would SHAKE things up.

Oldies would be nice.

It would also be nice to have an all rocker with a vault library larger than 30 songs.

It would also be nice if Citadel didn't just let WZRR spiral into the ground, for the same problem, a shrinking library.

It's just pointless asking for anything in Birmingham radio, though.

Oldies would be nice to have again in Bham, but I wouldn't hold my breath. A good portion of the oldies stations which were around years ago have defected to classic hits, or entirely different formats. I don't think we'll ever see an oldies station (at least a class C) in Bham again. There's always WHPH in Jemison. It may not cover the entire market but at least it hits the southern areas of town.

Lite talk? Groan. That hasn't really worked anywhere else, but this is Birmingham where boring radio is king, so it'd probably succeed here. Heck, they could just flip 99.5 to WAPI-FM and 107.7 to that mess WPSB was carrying and get out of music radio entirely. With the hassle stations are getting over royalties these days, I wouldn't be surprised if Cheapadel pulled that stunt.

Shifting in a hot AC direction? Not a bad idea and something they probably should have done a long time ago, which means it won't happen.

"Your Entertainment Station," has somewhat what of a Personality AC sound to it. Deffinatly a prank though. Just trying to get attention with R & B gone.

Is it just me or has radio become very stale and boring?  Been listening to WYSF and its just like everyone else. They're playing the same songs over and over again. I'm bored with the current state of radio.

B-Ham radio is like everyone else.  There is really nothing exciting and fresh going on in the Magic City.

Even WDJC is dull.  They play the same stuff over and over.  There radio station no longer impresses me and I'm big into Christian music.

What we need is some excitment, once again, in the radio industry.  With the way things are going now, I don't see any excitment happening with the stations we currently have.

This also includes those in Montgomery. Apart from Roscoe Miller's Unique Presentation, WLBF and WAY FM, the Gump has nothing exciting on its airwaves

My hometown has its stale moments but that will be changing. Once Moody and Rev. Glenn King sign on, I see wonderful and awesome things happening.

Hope these new radio stations will do very well, once they sign on.

Hope my WSGW (We're Spreading God's Word) project, will do well, once it sees the light of day.

P.S. I'm still working on my music library.  I want to have a wonderful mix of music, that will appeal to a mass audience. (Contemporary, Chamber, Hymns and Worship Music) Although my door hasn't opened yet, I'm not giving up.  God may see me through yet.  If He does, I'll be very excited and happy.
