Noticed something interesting today. I was listening to Z90.3 around 4:45pm and they played 'Better Off Alone' by Alice Deejay. Then, just before 9pm they played 'One More Time' by Daft Punk. Two pretty classic dance records. It really threw me off. I remember Z90.3 (or Jammin Z90 back then) when they used to play current dance in their regular rotation back in the 90's.
So, I wonder, now that dance and dance-oriented music (especially hip-hop ie. LMFAO, Lady Gaga, Pitbull etc) seems to be making a come back, would Z90.3 return to that format that they used to have in the 90's. I cant always listen to LA's Power106 but I always felt these two stations had similar playlists over the years, especially back in the 90's dance-leaning days. Is this something that's going at Power106 (and other similar stations across the nation) too? Is there something going on I dont know about that someone can clue me in on?
Is it perhaps that Z90.3 feels more comfortable with taking those risks and throwing some dance back into their rotation now that their hip-hop competition is gone (989)?
Clue me in please. Thanks!
