Sounds to me like they're shifting the format away from Power 95.3 and 102 Jamz and more towards Mix 105.1. Not a smart move in my opinion when you've already got a declining softer AC to begin with in house (Magic 107.7). I'll agree with the earlier posts that this could indeed be the beginning of the end for XL as we know it. While I'm sure the "XL" branding is strong in central Florida, it's no longer the "hip" or "cool" station to listen to among the younger demos. Probably fine by management as that demo really doesn't command the ad dollars an older one does, but trying to re-image "XL" as an adult station probably won't work. I say spin the format wheel to country before O-Rock does and take a piece of the K-92 pie. However, mangement in Maitland seems to be totally lost and still for some reason high on the crap running over on 104.1.
By the way... does the Orlando Clear Channel group have to divest 1 FM due to the sale of the company and new ownership limits? If so, I'm guessing either 106.7 or 104.1 could be the station sold off. And for anyone who questions why I say 104.1.... Money. It costs a lot to pay those clowns over there and divesting themselves of that mess would surely help the bottom line in O-Town.
