XM and Sirius Music Changes Next Week

I see the music channels changes will happen Wed. 11/12/08 I've noticed some changes already, for one xm-channel 4 which is the Big Band Channel is playing more traditional standards along with the Big Band tunes. I wonder what might happen with xm-73 the High Standards Channel. I've never been a fan of their approach to the standards anyway. I also enjoy xm-ch. 5 and the 60's on 6 and know they blew out most of their talent.

I agree about XM-73 High Standards, I've done the format and their approach just doesn't do it for me. Maybe there will be something better. Lets hope it's not 101 different versions of Rock and Hip Hop. I know they want to get the kids on board but the old timers are the ones who have been abandoned by local radio.

Satellite started out as something different, lets hope it doesn't turn into more of the same.

What about WLW, Fox News & CNN? They're not mentioned on the list at all.

I'm pissed. Fred and Ethel are superior channels to 1st wave and alt nation. X Country, Fine Tuning and Chill shouldn't have had to go, either. I'm not too sour about the changes for the Decades streams, the lists were too deep.

I am in favor of Classic Vinyl and Faction taking over at 46 and 53. Fungus never could solidify an identity.

Looks like Top Tracks is going out with a bang, I'm hearing especially killer stuff at the moment.

The talk stuff that wasn't mentioned is more than likely staying.

I'm kinda stoked about getting BBC-1 in place of U-POP, but U-POP wasn't a bad channel to begin with.

The stok-ed-ness is however mitigated by the loss of Beyond Jazz, Fine Tuning and 3/4 of the Latin channels. :(

AND WHERE DID U FIND THE LISTING AT?

DO U HAVE A WEBSITE U CAN SHARE??

OW that yelling hurt my head :D Sourse USA today--today ;D Plus another sourse is private email from XM. This is round 1 of the merger. Round 2 is coming soon. Includes talk, news, sports.

More info..www.xmfan.com programming section.

The list was available in the NY Post today in a Sirius ad. I see it as basically Sirius with some XM channels added. I know some of you like XM programming but I thank god most of it is gone as I found it unlistenable.

And yes CNN and all the same news guys are there, along with all the talk. A few comedy channels renamed. Looks like a good lineup. I am excited for the fresh change. Sirius advertises it as "Hear what over 35 million listeners can't get enough of". Guess they count the direct TV and Dish subscribers too. Its 69 commercial free music channels and all the political talk they had and what they list in total as over 139 channels.

Now, what I think sucks is that Buzzsaw is not making its way over to XM. I would have loved to see them take over Boneyard, rather than Hair Nation. This is the first Uncle Mel screw up.

Glad the Decades are still there, but if they're turned into "Sirius style" heavy rotation boredom, that'll be sad. Having live jocks would help.

I assume Deep Tracks will stay Deep. Obviously that's their whole raison d'etre.

Fred was a good channel. That's a loss. The big 4400 countdown was great.

OH yea WLW is out also...

WLW was one channel I never really listened to because I'm don't really care about Talk radio.
I wish XM would bring back Nashville Country radio station WSIX. I LOVE THIS STATION and there are no country music radio stations where I live. I hope the fine folks at CC will come to their senses and bring back WSIX.

LOL I just got XM radio today! I am Canadian, will this affect me? I was told XM Canada will not be affected by the merger. But if a channel is deleted/merged, logically it would affect everyone no? I mean if the source of the broadcast changes, it changes for EVERYONE!?!?
Please clarify. :-\

The only thing that wouldnt affect you is an American broadcast station only. All others affect you also. Our lineup is your linup. You just have fewer choices.

I will miss Buzzsaw. I dont understand losing it for Hair Nation with The Boneyard stayin come January.
