That's not true! I like 95.5 Newstalk WSB the way it is! ;D Also, Next "too close" and Mary J Blidge "family affair" aren't even close to dance, and on top of that, Natalie Merchant "Carnival" is my favorite one out of all on the list (not including Gin Blossoms)!

By the way, add La Bouche to the list as well. ;D

Mediabase is moving them to Hot AC next week

I'm still hoping they expand their playlist. It is very tight for a Hot AC station, no?

Yeah, so tight that I've basically given up on them and switched to 99X, which sounds almost Modern AC now ;D

You know, you can email them... maybe the more people who email wanting to hear more variety the more they might actually listen... and then maybe their ratings will go up.

^Yeah, I guess sending an e-mail wouldn't hurt, but it seems like this guy's set on this tight programming thing - if you look on allaccess.com, he's literally frozen the entire playlist, except for Katy Perry/Firework - every single other current and recurrent is right where it was last week

I'm really liking 99X, though - it's got all the excitement, energy, and sense of humor Star 94 does, except the variety of songs is a million times better IMO

Finally they have added more songs today. Let's hope this trend continues!

Once they join the Hot AC panel next week, they'll be one of FOUR Hot AC stations in the country not playing Give A Little More by Maroon 5

Yeah, it is still kind of strange they are not playing that song, in addition to a couple other new songs like The Script - For The First Time, Ryan Star - Start A Fire, Colbie Caillat - I Never Told You, and Bon Jovi - What Do You Got (but then again, they don't even play any Bon Jovi and only ONE U2 song... "Beautiful Day"). At least they have added the new Taylor Swift song and Katy Perry - Firework. They still have a little ways to go but at least they've been adding more recurrents to the playlist to break it up.

Dave-FM is definitely competing against them (they're playing Breakeven, If It's Love, King Of Anything, Animal, and gold tracks by Matchbox 20, Fastball, Tonic, Goo Goo Dolls, Lifehouse, etc.)

The new Star 94 PD is choosing to concentrate on playing familiar songs, and he's got the narrowest playlist I think the station's ever had (the currents/recurrents are STILL frozen, except for the two new songs he added) - IMO if Dave-FM is still beating them in January, that's gonna be a problem

I'd like to think PDs don't let their personal experiences dictate what they do, but this guy has an AC background, and he's programming Star like an AC - the last guy came from WAPE, a CHR which spun its powers 100x a week, and the first thing he did was increase Star's powers to 100x a week - just seems like PDs are doing what worked for them in the past on other stations, rather than what's best for Star 94 in its current situation

I like what Scott Lindy has done with Star's personalities, imaging and formatics. The station is sounding excellent as far as those things. I have to agree that Star will need to be more adventurous musically to break out. Star 94 is in some tight space with B98.5 and Q100, both of which seem to have loyal audiences.

Mornings have been a problem for Star 94, and the station is now heavily promoting features on Cindy & Ray and the times that the features are on. Star also seems to be doing more to promote C&R through social media.

Lindy is a strong programmer with a winning track record. Star has much better days ahead with him at the helm. LF has put the right man in charge.

Not a fan of "Your life Your music" between every single song. Just like "Your I-Pad and 5K a day station" every song before that. I think it insults the intelligence of your audience that they can't remember who you are for more than 4 minutes.

But we'll see how the PPM judges it. That's all that really matters.

I think we all agree the station does sound like a focused station. Although a lot of these things were in place before Scott showed up.

^The station sounds great, but it's impossible to listen to day after day for extended periods of time - I guess freezing the playlist for a month is one way of having the station sound "focused," but IMO they better start switching up their playlist soon or people are gonna default to Q100 or Dave-FM (or B98.5 after next week)

Richmond (where he programmed the AC station) has a Hot AC which plays nothing but recurrents and golds - I really hope that's not the direction he's headed

It's my first time in my life using this word, but... there's always a first time for everything, and here it is;

DITTO.

How come it feels like every time I turn on Star94 I hear Mike Posner - Cooler Than Me? Anyone else feel that way?

I also don't know what they are doing with the playlist, if they are testing it or not... because they added songs recently that they no longer play, and added old ones back, and I'm really confused and disappointed. Why can't Star just get it together?

I'd say the same thing in regard to WWVA to some degree, especially when it comes to not playing obvious hits, like "Grenade" by Bruno Mars (...etc.). It's not even a song I fancy much personally, but it's undoubtedly an undeniable hit.
