Your Thoughts On 94.1 KTFM Flip

I have really enjoyed the freestyle/old school format of KTFM. It was probably one of the best formats/stations I've ever heard! Now I am listening to crap like Britney Spears, Beyonce, Maroon 5? WTF!? I am SO disappointed and saddened that they have gone "mainstream" or whatever this sh*t is. There are officially no good stations in San Antonio. Blah.

I would like to know what exactly are you smoking? Best you ever heard? I would rather use my genitals as punching bags rather than listen to that freestyle crap.

The old format was female-targeted. From the username, it appears PHX_girl_in_TX is in the target demo. From your reaction in the quoted post, it appears you are not. When you're not in the target, you shouldn't complain about the format. ;)

BTW, Jeanne Jakle says in her Jakle's Jacuzzi article today that KTFM's new slogan touts music that "picks you up, makes you feel good." Isn't that the slogan that stations with the Movin' format are using? Does that mean that 94.1 is still targeted at women?

Hey PHX_girl, KTFM still plays Freestyle. The station was originally targeting 40+ female crowd. Now it's 25-49. I believe this why the disco tunes have been removed.

See this is what I think is so odd about San Antonio. Out of all the cities I have ever worked in San Antonio's love/hate with this station is just strange. I wasnt here when KTFM was #1 but I have heard all the good/bad/horror stories. I got here weeks before 98.5 came in. So I did get to witness the death of it . So from what I was told before 98.5 San Antonio just loved KTFM. There were diehards on just about every corner. Thats not what I remember. I remember KTFM getting an enormous amount of disrespect and hate. I guess that was only because I remember more about the downfall of KTFM rather than the 3 or 4 weeks I heard before 98.5 flip to the Beat. So CBS flipped it into K-Rock because ratings were in the toliet. Then BMP picked up the calls blah blah. Here is my question, does San Antonio hate this station or not? I cant really tell. I know this question will be answered differently by a lot of different people. But think about this, if KTFM was loved by San Antonio why would CBS flipped it because of ratings in the first place when it was back on 102.7? But at the same time when BMP resurrected it if people truely hated it people wouldnt have listened. It really goes both ways in a way. Which is why I say San Antonios love/hate for this station is just confusing.

What's going on tonight at KTFM. At about 9:15 they played the same 2 or 3 songs in a row. Rather embarrasing. It's so unusual hearing Fabian intro a Miley Cyrus record. Aaah, the joy of moving to new studios.

Does anyone have an aircheck? I don't live there anymore. But I'm excited that KTFM is finally moving closer to its old, original format. It's about time.

Robin Flores the PD of KTFM worked for Clear Channels Jammin 105.9 KFMK with Jose Brown and the likes.
This station will not last long it is current direction. I rather listen to 104 KRAP Houston. Bring back the Jammin but widen its playlist. I tuned in on Saturday morning waking up, and that no one no one crap song played. I almost threw my radio across the room. I thought I was in Houston and I used to own the website Houstonradiosucks.com after KLOL tanked. I am thinking CRAP SELLS. In my earlier post on these boards, now titled "WAKE UP BMP"

WAKE UP BMP
1. Change KTFM back to Jammin BUT EXPAND IT 70s, 80s and 90s music (all the genres that KTFM played not just freestyle, slow jams, but all the music from those decades including rap)
KTJM 98.5 Houston's Jammin Hits played a bigger variety and 4 decades of great music did good the only problem was it was a rimshot station they had to sell it to liberman broadcasting which owns the neocon radio KSEV and changed the format to Regional Mexican La-Raza 98.5

2. Bob does better then Jack so flip Jack to KSJL 102.7 Hits and Oldies (without the Mix show)

WAKE UP Univison

97.7 Rock
Hire Walton and Johnson
change calls to KSAQ
stand out from KISS more modern, active rock.

note to broadcasters, real program directors, and those really not interested:
you were not there..stop trying to revive the dead! create something new and use your talent!
let the old ktfm be where it is...loved and hated -dead and memorable

Odds are your probably not in the demos they want to reach so it's no loss.

Look, the new KTFM really sounds good. Better air talent will probably take them to the next level but that all depends on how much money BMP is willing to spend. It would be great if BMP would hire Mo' Bounce, Atom Smasher or Drex but that's not going to happen. I know Drex extended his contract with CC. The other two are probably asking to much money that BMP will not be willing to pay.

Wow!!!!!! Someone actually knew what I did at KTFM back in the day. They must have worked there back then.
