YouTube - WKSS 1984 format change

Ahh, the old Washington St. studio. I got to visit there once. I'm much more familier with the way the 10 Columbus Blvd studios were back in 1989 (when I was there quite often), I haven't been back there since. That Autogram board at WTIC bring back memories, that's the type of board WESU used to have back in the 80's (and possibly up until the mid, maybe late 90's) in both main studios, they now have your typical slide faders. I got to see that board at WRCH up close once too, Thomas Ray was the engineer there at the time I believe, and the same announcer in the footage was in the studio when I was there and he was explaining how they would come in live and toss it back to the automation system and then in an robotic voice he said "I am not a robot", right after that I got to listen to the on-air feed of WRCQ in stereo from the in studio headphones, it sounded quite good, in fact, that might be the only time I've ever heard a station in AM stereo.

Speaking of old boards, I wonder what they did with those old Autogram boards at WESU? They also used to have a really old Harris board in the storage room before the big move, I have a feeling they don't have that kind of luxury in the new location.

Ok, it's late, I'm babbling again, and not too coherent either.

1984 was way before Robin King... Jefferson Ward hired Robin.
Was the woman on TIC-FM Dana London?

Hmmm.

Anyway, the guy in the striped shirt dubbing songs to cart was Steve McVie, Ops Manager at Qantum on Cape Cod.

And boy, that studio on Washington Street was a hellhole. I only worked there for a very short time before we moved to Hartford Square North. It was like going from a beat up Volkswagen bug to a brand new Porche. :)

Wow....I don't feel so bad now, having used one of those boards around that same time.....thought I was in the dark ages at the time.....

Hmmm.

Not likely. I think she was working at a station in Milwaukee before she came to WTIC-FM. I seem to remember her at the station between 1991 to 1993.

I asked Steve it it was him, he said it was Tom "Crusin'" Casey.

The woman at TIC-FM was Jane Welsh, a great jock (and from what I heard very nice, too). That was before Dana was at KC101. Alicia Kaye and Christina were on middays between Jane and Dana. Jane went to San Diego with Garry Wall and became "Anita Rush." I think she still lives there--she was on Star 100.7 before it flipped to "Jack" a few years ago.

I didn't notice when I watched and don't feel like checking again, but I think I remember Tom "Cruisin'" Casey being on that report. He's a great guy, too.

I kinda thought that was Robin King on Kiss...she was there forever. But I don't really remember.

Oh--Autogram rotary pot boards ROCK! 8)

wow...cool link!! i used to work at Kiss back in the early to mid-90's...whatever happened to Robin King? I heard a LONG time ago that she did a stint at TIC-AM, but has long since gone. What about Jeremy? i know he went to Sirius long ago, but is he still there? I have been out of the state for a while, and it's cool to hear some names from the past thrown around!

I believe Robin King was involved with the morning show on WTIC-AM 1080 before Diane Smith (ugh!) took that spot.

Anyways...it was a rather strange switchover, wasn't it? :)

Robin King out of radio lives in North Carolina
Chris Walsh does video production
Jeremy Savage still with sirius
Hollywood Joe mornings in Philly as Logan
Michael Maze mornings on KC 101
Artie the one man party (after his lawsuit was closed...NOT guilty) mid days MD in Florida (can't remember where)

Trying to remember a few more names from the past: Sky Michaels, who was a huge part of the Kiss Club on Saturday nights. I also remember Jodi Ryan, John McMahon, J.D. Marshall and some British guy, all around 1987-88. Maybe I need to check my cassettes again? Hmmm! :)
