I remember the old "X-107" - actually won Lollapalooza tickets at an X-107 event... don't ask me how, though... : The interesting is that I believe the format prior to X-107, WXPS, is kinda like what 107.1's current Peak format is now.
If K-Rock hadn't flipped to an Alt-Rock format earlier in '96, it's possible that Z-100 might have done so because that was what the "research" was telling Poleman to do. In retrospect, he made the right call to transition the station back to a CHR/Pop format, irrespective of how abominable pop music sounded after '96.
