Z100's new MD

BWay at Z100? Are you kidding? No. He's gotta be close to 50 years old. Romeo will slide into PM Drive. Z will hire a new 6-10 jock.

Elvis has 2 years (maybe less) left on his contract. He won't be resigned at Z100. I'm willing to bet on it.

Berd,

I am willing to take that bet. CC would absolutley sign Elvis when his deal is up. Why would you think they wouldn't?
And CHRProgrammer...I don't believe Romeo is moving to afternoons. He loves nights. I believe that the search for a new jock has begun!

I agree, I think they are looking for a new young talent to be the future of their station.

Is Romeo leaving his air shift, is that why they're looking for a new jock, or did some other jock leave?

LOL. Cubby left about 2 years ago. The early posts in this thread are from 2006!

that clever cubby is back tracking; love to hear his thoughts on current dance at cHR: during Cubby;s reign at Z I remember them testing records from Kylie, Widelife-Queer Eye, Jr. Senior, etc all of which stiffed after two weeks or so....

Re: Z100's new MD (thread from '06)

Yes, don't get confused my the subject of this thread. I just went back a few years and commented on this last night so it popped up to the top of the page. It was fun seeing all the predictions and see if they came true.

I think the current state of CHR couldn't be better, it's that time of the "Cycle" that is just perfect for Z100. When I left in 2006 we could feel it about to come back around and it's heeeeeeeeeeere. It's also a good time for KTU. With PPM now in effect, the cume between KTU & Z100 is nearly 10 million, together we can make dance records more familiar and quicker. Of course, I'm not involved with the music at KTU, just a air-shift is my only worry. But it's a good time for Pop/Dance music. Guy Zapoleon is so right about the 10 year cycle, if you haven't heard about it check out this link

great piece, in theory,but none of those other periods were affected by the internet/my space/ you tube/ipods etc, they reflect periods when Top 40 was still the first and last word in what is hip,and a new breed ,post 2001, ain't hearing that at all, so don't be too surprised because many extremes are already in full effect nationwide, they're just not being reflected at CHR; in the olden days, CHR ignoring something was the death blow(look at how American radio 'ignored"/feared UK glitter/glam and later, punk rock and new wave,dooming these trends in the USA by omission;
MTV changed all that(Guns N Roses, Hip hop, Nirvana, etc all showed up at CHR AFTER MTV forced the issue;
I grew up with hit radio,as a journalist I became friendly in the 70s with Bruce Morrow and the late Murray The K and Scott Muni, and in the early 80s, Scott Shannon and Ross Brittan when they first came to NY; Rob Miller and Vic Latino 'grew up" in my 80s retail outlet on Long Island, Jimi LaLumia's Record Connection,and carried on the tradition;
I love hit radio, but the rules have changed,and no one seems to know(or wants to know)that yet

I miss Cubby on Z100. I like him better as a solo jock. He was the perfect postman!

I think JJ at Z100 is good at what he does, but today I heard him mention being stuck on the Turnpike (on a Friday afternoon) and couldn't help but think shouldn't he be saying the Parkway? After all aren't most Jersey listeners heading down the shore?

I've seen some pretty damn good IN TOUCH music programmers beat the young-ins :D

Look at the NFL coaches. Many of the 50/60/70 year olds are winning and winning BIG.

exactly; here's another one where I'm enjoying the last laugh...and I've just named Elvis this year's "New York Icon" in Good Times Magazine; see related thread
