zito out at wods

Please tell me you people aren't serious? What day is tomorrow? April Fools Day.

If they are/were trying to get publicity by staging an April Fools joke, they would be trying to get some press, ink, talk about it....and let as many people know as possible.

As it is....hardly anyone except us radio nerds knows....

Zito getting blown out of WODS is hardly the basis of an April Fools Day joke. It's not like he has a lot of heritage in the market. His dismissal won't get people talking. Now, you make it something like Loren & Wally, Matty, or Dennis & Callahan being let go...that's a totally different thing. Zito's firing is just an end of quarter budget cut.

Interesting, so both Zito and Blake go on vacation last week... I don't think this bodes well for Santos on WWZN...

What does Zito being laid off from WODS have to do with Santos on WWZN?... As long as he continues to pay for it, he's on.

You'll never know, Stair might come up with more cash and just buy the station outright - hey, anything is possible on this day.

It's very sad. The Chris Zito/Karen Blake combo was one of the best morning shows that I've heard in Boston in a long while. I found myself listening to it virtually every day. They both are such great talents. Karen Blake can certainly do a show solo but she shines when she has someone who she can work off of, especially someone who is as high quality as Chris Zito. This is a huge loss for WODS and Boston Radio in general. Perhaps, the Boston market is too small for someone as good as Zito. He's L.A., N.YC., or Chicago material, for sure!

While I do not make light of anyone losing their job, which is unfortunate....but as a listener....one of the best morning shows in the Boston area in a while?....since when? Karen Blake makes me want to drive my car off the road, hopefully with fatal results. The constant forced laughing at each others jokes...my God it's painfull :'(
Don't ya think the morning formula has run a bit dry....drive anywhere in the country....all the same...ha, ha, ha...boy are they funny. ::)
God, I'd kill for a song in my 40 minute commute.

I think Boston has some better shows than those I have heard in my travels. I was in St . Louis recently and listened to "Phillips & Company" on Y98. Made me appreciate Boston; hell they made Providence morning shows sound good!

Actually, one of the things that I liked about WODS was that the laughter was genuine and not forced. Also, that they did have a nice mix of bits and music.

Well, (Guy) Phillips has hosted on Y98 for about thirty years with good ratings. Yeah, the show may not be your cup of tea but it obviously resonates with people in St. Louis. As for Zito, it sucks. Good guy, lots of talent. Both Karen and Zito are good eggs.

Their Producer, Sully The Bruin Uber-Fan, meh. ;D
