So negative. If the station is not your cup of tea, why comment on it. You are wasting time typing these words. Let those who may enjoy it talk about it.
Are they still in mono? Seems like it
That's interesting, I have an old boombox on the back patio, with a dial (no digital read out) and can pick up Boom! with little effort. This is also with KUHA two doors down the dial, and within fairly close proximity of my home, just north of the North Belt. Of course, the farther south you go the better Boom! comes in, but it still puts a very serviceable signal up here on the north end, in the car units, or any of the three home receivers. It actually doesn't sound as murky as it did in News 92's mono output, to me.
First-time poster, long-time lurker on this board and the old Radio-Info board.
I'm not in the industry and never have been, just a fan of this medium of broadcasting we call radio.
I'm excited for this new radio station as I fit the target demographic (I'm in my early 30s) and having been longing for a station like this.
I would like a little more classic R&B from the 90s thrown in as well, but I realize that would step on Majic's toes a bit.
In terms of the negativity on here regarding the flip, get over it.
No, there's no oldies station here because there's no real market for it.
I enjoy classic rock and pop music from the 70s and 80s as much as the next person, but that's what I have my iPod for.
I have noticed the playlist is already becoming a bit repetitive and I've heard songs like Baby Bash "Sugar Sugar" that I really never cared for.
Hopefully, once they get on-air jocks and a PD (if they don't have one already) the playlist will improve.
This station won't last forever, but I'll enjoy it while it's here.
I totally agree they need a min of 2500 to 3500 tracks in the total playlist once the station goes online and some more R&B for 1986 to 1999. Another thing is this station need to get about another 250 to 350 tracks from Houston artist I could help them with that. Currently the playlist is like 70 to 80 tracks way to low
Welcome aboard RVD26!
How long would it take to spin through 2,500 to 3,000 singles?? With commercials, Disc Jockey banter, etc., it'd take nearly a month to hear the same song played twice. I don't know about you, DJ, but I can't imagine many people sticking around for something that wide.
Goodness, my flea power only has 1,100 tracks in total and that takes 4 days before a song repeats, without any commercials and extremely limited banter.
I heard Geto Boys Mind Playing Trick On Me twice in 12 1/2 hrs not good. The main rotation is 70 to 80 tracks currently should be 300. I have heard 3 artist in there promos that they still have not played onr track from. First 30 hrs the station seemed pretty good last 48 hrs they are playing tracks way to often this is not a station playing stuff that is 3 yrs or newer that needs to play the same track 3 or 4 times a day.
