Mike Huckabee does a national commerical

Just heard Huckabee doing a radio commerical for a diabetic product ..forgot already what it was.. He lost weight on it he said.. So will he use the money to pay for a campaign? You guys heard it?

I caught "The Huckabee Report" on Thursday afternoon on one the RW talkers and The Huxter was live reading an ad for LifeLock--reportedly one of the few Limbaugh advertisers still remaining.

I listen to "The Huckabee Report" twice daily. I don't know that he reads any of those ads live. They seem to be the same ones over and over.

I heard this Huckabee spot on WLS FM during Landeckers show 8p-11p a few times 2/9/15 monday for the first time ..

He's also advertising his own book. Which is perfectly acceptable, I'm sure.

I didn't know until yesterday that he had ever had Type 2 Diabetes and cured it.

Huckabee is terrible on every level. Terrible politician. Terrible radio host. Terrible TV host. So phony it's apparent even to the most casual of viewers/listeners.

Wow! You and I found something we agree on!

But other than the things you list he must be a pretty nice guy. (Let me get back to you on what might be on the nice list.)

After all he went to the same college I did. He worked for the same small-town radio station I did. He and I must have something in common.

And he and Bill Clinton share the same home town. But I don't think the two of them ate watermelons from the same patch.

I'm sure he's a nice guy, but he comes off as very insincere in his public persona. And he was a terrible radio host.

That could be a cultural issue... which will be true for a lot of listeners. I grew up in the same culture he did.... where the church was the center of the community and the focus of entire family life of people. (Most folks in the religious group from which MH comes WERE NOT members of the country club. Why would you be a member if your social compact says "We don't dance!"

When I hear MH on radio or see him on TV, just his tone and diction says: Baptist from the South ala 1960s and 1970s. Some people will find that to sound insincere. Some of us just find it "in character... fulfilling the role".

When Bill Clinton first hit the national scene, he had some of that same tone and diction and sound. HE didn't train for the ministry, but he lived among those same constituents. Clinton's international exposure and his hob-nobbing with the Washington crowd took some of the starch out of his southern underwear.

My main problem with Huckabee's radio show was the pacing. He really had no idea how a show was supposed to flow. Which is understandable considering he wasn't a radio guy.

As for Clinton, I'm thinking the starch in his underwear was just an act. Once he got to Washington he could be himself. Which as we saw, wasn't quite the proper Southern Gentleman.

Oh I suspect you underestimate the propensity for wife swapping and other colorful behaviors by people who seem to be "proper Southern Gentlemen" on the surface.

Oh, I know the stories from Little Rock. He was a naughty fellow there, too. But it was easier to cover up.

Not exactly. He had better handlers then. After a few years in the White House, those folks were replaced with people who weren't as dedicated.

I think he does a good job on his three-minute commentaries. Why else would I listen to two out of the three each day?

There is another factor to consider in addition to the presence or absence of real talent.

Huckabee is in the OPINION business.

If you agree with most of his opinions, you may listen even if his talent level is quite low. If you disagree with his opinions, you might decide not to listen even if he had talent that exceeds any one else in the business.
