I-Heart changes ALL four stations:

More details on the flips can be found here (from RAMP): https://t.e2ma.net/webview/67pz3/43bd2650774a38830b7bbde963e5c287 (scroll down to the second article).

Oh, and are you looking for a radio gig? From the story:

"(SVP/Programming Rich) Davis is now in need of a bunch of other talented professionals: 1) a new PD for ALT 102.9; 2) a new night show for Power 93.3 -- a fresh, new, social media monster to host a live and local night show, good phones, active on the streets; 3) a new producer for Carla Marie and Anthony; 4) a new producer for Bender and Molly; 5) a Digital PD and 6) a Digital Content Director. Amazing candidates for these EOE positions are urged to make their existence known ASAP via the magic of email at [email protected]."

So there you go! No excuses. Get those applications in - you just might be the one!

The electronic Clear Channel billboard at 180th and West Valley Highway in Tukwila still advertises KISS-FM. They really made this switch hastily.

Well, it looks like they did some planning in the promotions department, Mom works down the street from the iHeart studios and went to lunch on Wednesday at a restaurant in there building. She came home with some swag. They had 4 booths out on the sidewalk in front of the building, and now I've got one of the first Power t-shirts, a couple lanyards, and 2 stickers from each station.

Why didn't they call 104.9 "KUBE-105"? That would make more sense. KUBE 93...KUBE 105?

I agree, KUBE 105 has a nice ring to it, they sound similar, like Q105 in Tampa Bay. Although most non-Seattle people will confuse KUBE 105 with Q105.

I wish KUBE 104.9 would get a CP to move back to where the rest of Seattle Radio is.

"KUBE 93" and "Q105" were well-established brands back in the day when there were true dials on most radios. In this digital age, established brands like that can make it, with most radios being digital, it doesn't make sense. That said, even Q105 owners feel the need to post their exact frequency with their logo.

For the CP, how would you address the two adjacent signals of 104.5 and 105.3, which are both in suburban Seattle?

104.9 is hemmed in at their current power level and HAAT by 104.5, 104.7 and 105.3. As well as a 104.9 co-channel in Vancouver. There will likely be no new CPs issued for 104.9.

The only way out of this is for iHeartMedia to buy all these other stations. Which at $20 billion in the hole doesn't seem like the likely thing they would do. But so was sending the legendary and historic KUBE call letters to Eatonville for one of the worst sets of calls I've ever seen.

I was hoping it was a joke. But oh well. KUBE 93 is dead. Long live "K-Pwick".

Maybe 104.9 could move to South Mountain with KDDS, KOMO-FM, and KLSY, if Alpha killed off KDUX for a high sum.

They could have moved KUBE to 102.9 if they really wanted to, but since they moved it to arguably the worst signal in the market, i'd say KUBE is toast.

I think I had asked a similar question long ago. I believe Kelly or Rob explained that there still is no chance, even if KUDX did not exist.

It looks like the equivalent of a Class C0 coming out of Vancouver on the same frequency. I don't think the Canadian government would ever accept it, no matter how directional they were.

Yeah, but people didn't get confused with "KUBE-93." They never called themselves "93 point three", even up into 2016. And there has never been a Q-93 in Seattle, or in any of the neighboring suburbs. 105 sounds great, and keeps the heritage of the old 93 frequency alive in a way.

You're proposing a company that is over $21B in debt and regularly terminates people to cut payroll costs to move transmitter sites and buy out a station in Aberdeen? All so people in Snohomish County can hear a format that has historically been stronger in the South Sound?

I would love to see the business case for that move.

What "heritage?" 93.3 is targeted to teens, college age kids and maybe a couple of years above. That means the oldest in their core demo is around 25 years of age, born the same year Nirvana's Nevermind was released, and the oldest listener probably started listening to the radio around the year 2002. They barely remember T-Man, let alone any true "heritage" of the station.

99.9% of people who listen to a CHR station do not care of any "heritage," they only care about what the station is about today.

I'm out in southwest Snohomish and have no problems picking up 104.9 on either a car or home radio. No HD until you get south of downtown, but the analog is pretty solid for me until you get near Everett.

Another problem in 104.9 moving is KKRV in Wenatchee, also on 104.7. You'd have to buy out/pay to downgrade KDUX and KKRV, and at best you'd be able to relocate to 3 sisters (former KMTT home) or that place KMCQ moved to at first in Enumclaw.

So basically for several million dollars, you may be able to get a signal not unlike KMCQ when it moved in here. Why pay for that when you coulda bought the real deal on a major in-metro-area tower site (as in the moved in KMCQ) for not much more? Doesn't make much sense. In 2001, you may have been able to pull it off and make money after awhile. Now, it's a mad idea...

The target of 93.3 has for some time been 18-34, particularly women in the 25-34 cell with a secondary of 25-44 women. That is the case for most CHR stations.

I understand and really like the 'classic alternative' format Alt 102.9 is putting out (I bet it's temporary...it seems like all iHM alternative stations start off gold-heavy).

That being said, if 102.9 becomes KFOO, I'll eat my hat! Never thought the Foo Fighters were that popular...
