Oldest Extant Off-Air VHS/Beta Tape You Have

His YouTube channel is ChenowethRules, and he also runs MightyFalcon2011. My channels are VHSgoodiesWA (mostly inactive) and VHSgoodiesWA3 (where I post new videos).

Unrelated, but I can tell whenever I bought a T-120 blank tape with a movie copied from a rental. Either, in Macrovision, the picture goes from bright to dark (unwatchable), I see the black/white Macrovision bars in the vertical blanking input, or I can see codes in the VBI. "CBSFOX," "MAGVID", etc. Whenever I see those, I forget going through them for commercials (you aren't going to see any!)

The closer you’ll get to commercials are previews for upcoming movies of the time!

Picked up some more tapes at a flea market this past weekend. The vendor I bought these from charged me only five bucks for a bag of 15 tapes. Unfortunately, several of them turned out to be duds, such as movies copied from rental tapes or family home movies, but here are some of the better ones from that stash.

TAPE 1: Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), News Channel 5 at 11:00 with Michael Settonni and Jacqueline McLean (preempted due to the length of the movie) and first few minutes of Office Depot Sports Sunday with Matt Underwood taped from WEWS on 11/10/1996 with commercials; partially taped over episode of Rosie O'Donnell taped from WJW in November 1996 with commercials; two episodes of All My Children taped from WEWS on November 7 and 8, 1996 with commercials; few minutes of a taped-over episode of Rescue 911, unknown if this was an original broadcast on CBS (WOIO) or a rerun from the Family Channel, no logo bug on screen; last few minutes of a taped-over AMC episode taped from WEWS in December 1995 with a few commercials; short clip from QVC in December 1995; first few minutes of an episode of Sisters taped from WKYC in December 1995 with a few commercials before the tape runs out

TAPE 2: Part one of Titanic (CBS miniseries) taped from WOIO on 11/17/1996, some commercial breaks are included, others are cut out, also has the first few minutes of CBS 19 News at 11 with Scott Newell and Amy Castelli; partially taped-over showing of part one of Separate But Equal (ABC miniseries) taped from WEWS on 4/7/1991 with commercials, mostly GM ads, as they were the sole national sponsor for the miniseries

TAPE 3: William and Kate: A Royal Love Story (TLC documentary) and partial episode of What Not to Wear taped in January 2011 with commercials; episode of CSI and partial episode of The Mentalist taped from WOIO in January 2011 with commercials; partially taped over broadcast of News Channel 5 at 6:00 with Leon Bibb and Danita Harris and partial broadcast of ABC World News with Diane Sawyer taped from WEWS on 2/5/2010 with commercials; two reruns of Seinfeld (one partial, one full), Malcolm in the Middle and King of the Hill syndicated reruns, 1AM rebroadcast of Fox 8 News at Ten with Stacey Bell and Bill Sheil (filling in for Bill Martin) and first few minutes of a Guthy-Renker infomercial for Sheer Cover taped from WJW on December 3-4, 2009 with commercials. The latter recording on this tape was a bit of a pain, as the picture was clear at times, but very fuzzy at other times. The owner's VCR heads must have been a bit dirty when it was recording.

TAPE 4: Neil Diamond: Under a Tennessee Moon (ABC special concert) taped from WEWS on 2/24/1996 with commercials; broadcast of 20/20, News Channel 5 at 11:00 with Roosevelt Leftwich and Barbara Meek, and partial broadcast of Nightline taped from WEWS on 3/1/1996 with commercials; partially taped over broadcast of Nightline, Movie 5 presentation of The Last Fling (1987) and partial episode of Rolonda taped from WEWS on February 23-24, 1996 with commercials

TAPE 5: HBO Comedy Half-Hour with D.L. Hughley taped in July 1994 with promos before the show; HBO Comedy Half-Hour with Carlos Mencia and Russell Simmons' Def Comedy Jam taped in July 1994 with promos between shows

TAPE 6: Fox Sports Net coverage of Dale Earnhardt memorial service and Beyond the Glory episode on Dale Earnhardt taped from Fox Sports Ohio on 2/22/2001 with commercials on the latter program; partially taped over Fox broadcast of the 2001 Napa Auto Parts 300 and partial syndicated rerun of The X-Files taped from WJW on 2/17/2001 with commercials; start of an episode of One Life to Live taped from WEWS in January or February 2001 with a few commercials beforehand

On another nostalgic note, the vendor I bought these tapes from had a TV/VCR combo unit in his booth playing a movie when I was there. It was a Panasonic brand that also had a built-in FM radio. Neat to see one of those old things.

My uncle has one until he died in 2017! My aunt (his wife) still has at her house, they’ll probably get rid of it soon. Was it an Omnivision?

Five keepers out of six, at an estate sale this morning. BTW there were LOTS of Disney retail movies, Barney, other cartoons and kids retail tapes, too bad none of these weren't loaded with Nickelodeon or Saturday morning network cartoons! Next week this list might be MUCH larger...the hoarder sale I've mentioned was moved to next Thursday-Saturday, while there's another estate sale about 3 miles away that has a ton of home-recorded tapes for sale. I love that the ladies running these sales give me the heads-up, knowing I'm about the only one that buys them ;-)

Tape 1 - NOVA episode (The Brain Eater) taped off KYVE/PBS 2/10/1998 with promos afterwards; partial episode of Touched By An Angel, 'Best Friends For Life' (1998) and several minutes of CNN Headline News taped off KIMA/CBS 1/18/1998 with commercials; part of an unknown soap opera follows with commercials; partial CNN Headline News clip taped in December 1996; KNDO First at Five newscast taped in December 1996 with commercials; commercial break, credits from The Christmas Box and part of the CBS Sunday Night News taped off KIMA/CBS 12/17/1995. Maxell T-120
Tape 2 - 'Anya's Bell' (1999) and first couple minutes of NYPD Blue taped off KIMA/CBS on Halloween 1999 with commercials, in SP mode. Maxell T-120
Tape 3 - Touched By An Angel, 'Miracle in the Woods' (1997) and about 15 minutes of CNN Headline News taped off KIMA/CBS 10/26/1997 with commercials; partial clip of NBC Nightly News taped off KNDO/NBC in early September 1997 with commercials (on the death of Mother Teresa, either 9/5 or 9/8); partial episode of Murphy Brown and some of KIMA News at Five taped off KIMA-29 in late August 1997 with commercials. Scotch T-120
Tape 4 - 6-hour KIMA/CBS aircheck taped March 15th, 2007 with commercials: WSU vs. Oral Roberts NCAA March Madness game, bits of several other regional games, (joined in progress) The Price is Right, Dr. Phil, and more NCAA March Madness coverage including a UCLA game. TDK T-120
Tape 5 - Starts with ten minutes of The New Adventures of Old Christine taped off KIMA/CBS in March 2008 with commercials; cuts to most of a WSU-Oregon Ducks basketball game, College Hoops Northwest, Northwest Top 10, and part of an International Fight League broadcast taped off FSN Northwest on 1/20/2008 with commercials; part of the Oklahoma State at Texas A&M college football game taped off FSN Northwest 10/6/2007 with commercials; partial episode of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Access Hollywood taped off KIMA/CBS early morning 5/1/2007 with commercials

Oops, forgot to mention Tape 5 has about 90 minutes of Up to the Minute after Access Hollywood. KIMA was signing off one night a week at this point and cleared UTTM. But there were times, up to 2011, where for a while they would sign off every night...this was not one of them.

If the soap opera footage on Tape 1 was from 1996, I'm wondering if it was The City. Only lasted two seasons on ABC.

Here's a summary of the Dr. Phil episode on Tape 4, still on his website after 11 years.
https://www.drphil.com/shows/784/

Frank Caliendo and Samantha Mathis were the guests on the Craig Ferguson broadcast on Tape 5.

I'm planning on heading over to the Litchfield Flea Market again tomorrow morning to see if I can find more tapes. I know there are a couple of vendors inside the two buildings of the flea market who sell these tapes, but oftentimes, some of the many outdoor vendors will have the tapes I'm looking for, although that wasn't the case last time I was there. When I was last at that flea market a couple months back, I only found two keepers out of a few tapes I bought. Actually, you could say I only found one keeper since the other one, in addition to some college football footage from CBS and ESPN Plus from 2002, also contained part of an NSFW pay TV movie. :p

No, I don't think it was 'The City,' think it was one of the more popular soaps. Which soap had the character Bianca in 1996/97? It cut off before the credits and I don't think there was any network promos.

Okay, as promised, here's the full rundown of the tapes I found at yard sales last week, minus the "duds."

Yard sale #1 (the same house in Brunswick I went to last time):
TAPE 1: Part one of Joseph (1995 made-for-TV movie) copied from rental tape; last few minutes of a taped-over recording of Star Wars (1977) copied from rental tape, then cuts to about two hours of events from the 2002 Winter Olympic Games taped from WKYC in Cleveland on 2/10/2002 with commercials, shown through the second VCR used to copy Star Wars; partially taped-over episode of NYPD Blue and episode of Philly taped from WEWS in Cleveland on 1/22/2002 with commercials; episodes of The Drew Carey Show, The Job and first few minutes of 20/20 Downtown taped from WEWS on 1/23/2002 with commercials

TAPE 2: Part two of Joseph (same two-tape movie as on Tape 1) copied from rental tape; episode of Gardener's Journal taped from HGTV in April 2001 with commercials; partial episode of Homes Across America taped from HGTV in April 2001 with commercials; partial episode of Gardening by the Yard taped from HGTV in April 2001 with commercials; partial episode of Modern Masters taped from HGTV in summer 2000 with commercials

TAPE 3: Ghostbusters (1984) taped from WEWS (ABC Sunday Night Movie) circa 1988 minus commercials, part of it is taped over with an episode of The Cosby Show taped from WKYC in Cleveland on 10/4/1990 with commercials; Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991) copied from rental tape

TAPE 6: Four episodes of Howard Stern taped from E! in January 1998, first episode is minus commercials, the rest have commercials, tape is a bit damaged in the first two episodes, but quality improves by the third; two episodes of Model taped from E! on 1/18/1998 with commercials; episode of Baywatch taped from WKYC in January 1998 minus most commercials; partially taped-over episode of Coming Attractions and first few minutes of the Golden Globe Awards Pre-Show with the late Joan Rivers taped from E! on 1/18/1998 with commercials; partially taped-over Late Show airing of Hercules in the Underworld (1994), episodes of Who's the Boss, Victory with Morris Cerullo (religious program), Conan the Adventurer and partial episode of Saban's VR Troopers taped from WUAB in Cleveland on 1/9/1995 with commercials, including promos for early WB network shows and promos for the launch of UPN seven days afterward. WUAB carried both UPN and The WB programs prior to fall 1997, when WBNX in Akron picked up the WB affiliation.

TAPE 7: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) taped from WEWS (ABC Sunday Night Movie) on 9/28/1986 minus commercials (ads from this showing of the movie are already found elsewhere on YouTube); Never Say Never Again (1983) taped from WEWS (ABC Sunday Night Movie) on 11/2/1986 with commercials, including several local political ads, as it was shown two days before Election Day; incomplete recording of Kelly's Heroes (1970) taped from SuperStation TBS in February 1988 with commercials

Yard sale #2 (this one was just around the corner from my house!):

TAPE 10: NFL's Greatest Moments taped from ESPN circa 1990 minus commercials, part of it is taped over with some footage of Top Rank Boxing on ESPN around the same time

TAPE 11: Another Ross Perot political infomercial taped from NBC (WKYC) sometime in 1992; partially taped-over episode of Agri Country (agricultural information show that was broadcast throughout Ohio) taped from WAKC in Akron circa 1992 minus commercials; some 1992 National Finals Rodeo coverage taped from ESPN in November 1992 minus commercials; two more episodes of Agri Country taped from WAKC in January 1993 minus commercials

TAPE 12: Partial broadcast of the Mesquite Championship Rodeo taped from TNN circa 1994 minus commercials, weak audio; partially taped-over broadcast of Round 10 of the 1988 National Finals Rodeo taped from ESPN in December 1988 with commercials; unknown Discovery Channel documentary on whitetail deer taped circa 1989 minus commercials; broadcast of the Mesquite Championship Rodeo taped from TNN sometime in 1989 minus most commercials

TAPE 14: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) copied from rental tape, 1994 print; partial broadcast of the 1994 Hooters 500, NASCAR Shop Talk and part of the 1994 Golf Magazine Senior Tour Championship taped from ESPN on 11/13/1994 with commercials, fed through the second VCR used to copy the movie; partially taped-over episode of Jerry Springer (moms who party too much) and first ten minutes of Channel 5 Eyewitness News at Noon with Amanda Davis taped from WAGA in Atlanta on 10/20/1994 with commercials

Yard sale #4:
TAPE 15: Runaway Bride (1999) taped from Armstrong iN Demand Pay-Per-View (Medina, Ohio) in January 2000

I think George and Alana was on WAGA 5

Just got a bunch of tapes at two sales today: a yard sale and an estate sale. Seven keepers in all. Here's the list:

Yard Sale
Tape 1 - Both parts of "East of Eden" taped off TBS (Morning Movie) on 6/7 and 6/8/1989 with commercials
Tape 2 - Partial broadcast of the 20th annual American Music Awards taped off KAPP/ABC 1/25/1993 with commercials. SP mode, so incomplete.
Tape 3 - Gallagher's Wizard of Odd Leap Year Marathon taped off Showtime on 2/29/1988

Estate Sale
Tape 4 - Melrose Place season 1 finale and Beverly Hills 90210: Behind the Scenes taped off K68EB/FOX Yakima 5/26/1993 with commercials; part of the 20th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards taped off KAPP/ABC with commercials the same night (just the last hour); L.A. Law season finale taped off KNDO/NBC 5/27/1993 with commercials, partial episode of Key West taped off K68EB/Fox 6/1/1993 with commercials; partial broadcast of Robert F Kennedy: The Man and The Memories taped off KNDO/NBC 5/28/1993 with commercials (for two reasons: taped over, and tape runs out before the end of the broadcast)
Tape 5 - Starts with a disappointment: almost full KIMA News at 11 broadcast from 7/11/2000, but for some reason, NO VIDEO WHATSOEVER! Just static! This is not a VCR problem, as other tapes are fine. It is followed by the last hour of coverage from the Wimbledon championship matches, and part of the American Century Celebrity Golf Tournament taped off KNDO/NBC 7/9/2000 with commercials
Tape 6 - NOVA episode (Everest: The Dead Zone) taped off KYVE-47/PBS 2/24/1998; partial broadcast of "My Sergei" (1998) taped off KIMA/CBS 2/4/1998 with commercials; part of Breaking the Ice: The Women of '94 Revisited taped off KCYU-LP/FOX 2/5/1998 with commercials

Actually the LA Law Season finale was in 1994 not 1993

Got the Redding lot. So far I have found some good content, but haven't looked completely at all of the tapes. And another note...nothing was taped from Redding-Chico, all from Los Angeles + cable. The woman I bought it from used to live in Sunland-Tujunga, close to Burbank and Glendale. Some of the items found include:
- Series premiere of Beauty & The Beast taped off KCBS/CBS 1/1/1988 (rerun) with commercials
- "Man of La Mancha" taped off A&E 3/24/1988 with commercials...this is now my oldest content from the network
- "Back to the Future" taped off KTLA in November 1995 w/ commercials
- "Back to the Future II" taped off USA Network 1/18/1996 w/ commercials
- "Harry & The Hendersons" taped off KTLA in October 1989 with commercials
- The 1983 Jane Eyre miniseries on two separate tapes, one tape has episodes 1-4 taped off A&E in November 1989 w/ commercials. I have also found episode 5 on the Harry & The Hendersons tape, but I haven't looked for commercials yet.
- Most of "Justice for Annie" taped off KNBC/NBC 1/15/96 with commercials
- "A Promise to Carolyn" taped off KCBS/CBS 1/16/1996 with commercials and first minute of the Action News newscast. This was during their days when the logo was a carbon copy of KREM/Spokane's!
- 8 episodes of The Thin Blue Line, a Rowan Atkinson BBC sitcom, taped off KCET-28 LA/PBS in January 1998 with promos in between
- The Return of Mr. Bean and Show Me the Funny taped off Fox Family in July (I think) 1999 with commercials. This was interesting, because the owner taped over a rental cassette with a piece of Scotch tape! I thought that was illegal? :O I haven't looked at the rest of it, but I have a hunch it is a straight aircheck of Fox Family to the end of the tape.
- Inside the Twin Towers taped off Discovery Channel 9/3/2006 with commercials

Did find a few duds, including The Boys Next Door copied from the Hallmark VHS (which I already have from KIMA/CBS Yakima with the Hallmark and local ads, 2/4/1996), one tape that caused my VCR to shut down (I think due to a stiff tape guard...may need to put the tape reels in another dud cartridge), and another tape that was 2 hours of static, although the memory counter was still going.

I remember watching Back to the Future that night on USA and it was followed by Up All Night wih young guns and beforehand Campus Cops and Weekly World News correct?

I've been noticing that. Tapes everywhere seem to be disintegrating significantly. Some of the old cheap tapes are getting to the end of their lives. This is where we really start converting everything to DVD! I just played a full Huskies vs. Arizona State game from 9-5-1992 yesterday, and as I got to the end of the game, the picture completely went away on my Funai unit. I've still got the chamois swabs and alcohol, as I know it's bad heads. As for that tape, it came from another great yard sale last Saturday. Tape listings are below.
Sad that you had to toss the History Channel 1996 tape. That is very early footage from the network, and it's a shame that the tape wasn't working.

Tape 1 - 1992 Rose Bowl Postgame Show taped off KOMO-4 Seattle 1/1/1992 with commercials (hosted by former KOMO sports director Bruce King); Seattle Mariners vs. Kansas City Royals MLB game, an episode of Taxi and most of The Ten O'Clock News taped off KSTW-11 4/11/1992 with commercials

Tape 2 - Seahawks AFC Divisional Playoff vs. Miami Dolphins, taped off NBC (presumed KING-5, or even KNDO-23) 12/31/1983! Unfortunately, no ads. This tape is a (censored) to play as it also screwed up my heads the first time.

Tape 3 - "The Natural" (1984) taped off unknown pay-TV channel; "All the Right Moves" (1983) taped off Cinemax circa August 1985; Pete Rose: Countdown to History taped off unknown channel in August 1985 minus most ads (a syndicated special); Seattle Seahawks 1984 Season Highlights taped off unknown channel in 1985 minus ads; Gettin' Ready with Lou Gellos, a local KING-5 preview special for the Seahawks' 1985 season, taped off KING in August 1985 minus ads. The Lou Gellos special I will copy to YT soon, the tape will be sold in a random eBay lot as minus commercials.

Tape 4 - "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" (1988) taped off KIMA-29/CBS 11/12/1991 with commercials (a Wonderful World of Disney airing); "Back to the Future III" (1990) taped off KNDO-23/NBC 11/17/1991 with commercials; episodes of Captain N & The New Super Mario World, ProStars, Wish Kid, and the first couple minutes of K-TV (syndicated kids show) taped off KNDO/NBC Saturday Morning 11/30/1991 with commercials

Tape 5 - MTV Top 100 Videos of 1985 countdown (top 40 only) taped in January 1986 with commercials; Johnny Carson's final Tonight Show taped off KNDO/NBC 5/22-23/1992 with commercials; partial episode of Woody Woodpecker and most of an episode of Family Feud (Ray Combs, syndicated version) taped off KNDO-23 Yakima in January 1991 w/ commercials (a South Carolina state senator plays in one of the families!); partial episode of Sale of the Century, full episode of $1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime and first five minutes of KOMO 4 News/5PM taped off KOMO-4 Seattle 1/17/1986 with commercials. The "$1 Million Chance" is not on the trading circuit yet. The late Jim Lange hosted it, long after The Dating Game ended.

Tape 6 - Founding Fathers and an episode of Modern Marvels taped off History Channel in November 2000 with commercials; episodes of Veronica's Closet, ER, Channel 4 News at 11, The Tonight Show/Jay Leno and Late Night/Conan O'Brien taped off KNBC-4/NBC LA 11/19-20/1998 with commercials

Tape 7 - 1984 Winter Olympics footage taped off KAPP-35 Yakima 2/19/1984, some ads cut out, others left in. Last week I had KNDO content from November 1985, this beats the Yakima TV record by over a year and a half! Also included: the 1-hour Happy Days finale taped from KAPP/ABC 5/8/1984 minus ads; special broadcast of Nightline taped off KAPP/ABC 6/6/1984 minus ads, a re-creation of D-Day coverage to celebrate the 40th anniversary; 1-hour Summer Olympics special taped off KAPP/ABC 8/13/1984 minus ads; episode of Nightline taped the same night with some commercials included - still haven't finished this one, but it seems to be OK.

Tape 8 - Almost full broadcast of Super Bowl XX taped off KING-5/NBC Seattle 1/26/1986 with commercials and halftime show with Up with People entitled "Beat of the Future." It also lists the Challenger explosion funeral service and an MTV New Year's Eve celebration, but I haven't checked there yet.

Tape 9 - JFK: In His Own Words taped off HBO in November 1988; Four Days in November taped off KIMA/CBS 11/17/1988 with commercials (I already have this from WJBK Detroit, on a converted DVD - I sold the original tape); Monday Night Football 20th Anniversary Special taped off KAPP/ABC 9/11/1989 with commercials; ANOTHER copy of the final Johnny Carson Tonight Show, taped off KNDO/NBC 5/24/1992 with commercials...maybe it was recorded on two VCRs at the same time? Also, brief NBC Nightly News clip and KNDO NewsCenter 23 clip taped sometime in September 1988; ends with about 20 minutes of Days of Our Lives taped off KNDO/NBC in July 1988 with commercials

Tape 10 - Styx: Mr. Roboto concert taped off MTV in December 1984 with one partial break before the show (the concert is commercial-free); briefly taped over twice, by an unknown soap opera clip and a Chicago Cubs game; partial broadcast of 1984 Husky Football Highlights taped off KOMO-4 in December 1984; 1985 Orange Bowl taped off KING-5/NBC 1/1/1985, most ads included; ends with a local postgame show with Tony Ventrella taped after the game w/ commercials

Tape 11 - Huskies vs. Arizona State football game taped off Prime Sports NW 9/5/1992 with commercials (this one did screw up my Funai heads); also contains a show called Husky Profile afterwards, but by then my picture was full of static.

Actually $1 Million Dollar Chsnce of a lifetime is on the trading circuit. To game showfabs and collectors like myself.

That particular episode was NOT put on YouTube yet, in fact it was only the 10th episode ran, with a different announcer (Marc Sommers). No relation to the Marc of Double Dare. Johnny Gilbert would take over a few weeks later.

Haven't posted many updates on here lately, mostly because of bad luck, either what is marked on the tapes isn't what is actually on there, or I find an especially old tape stock that has material taped over from 25+ years after the blank tape was made. For instance, got an unmarked tape that would have been sold in the 1978-1981 period, yet all that was on it was an episode of Naked Science from 2005-2006 period. Ugh.

As an average youtuber, I have digitized my recorded VHS tapes to transfer to my PC to upload to Youtube. My oldest VHS recording would have to be Miracle on 34th Street (Colorized version) recorded from KSTU-13 in Salt Lake City, UT sometime in early December 1985 with commercials intact.

EDIT: Sorry about the double post.

No worries. Are you from Salt Lake City? I don't normally see a lot of Utah footage on YouTube, and the same with Idaho. In fact, until I bought a VHS lot from Boise last February, there was hardly any classic TV clips on YT from the Boise market...700,000 people in the metro area! This weekend I will be hitting at least one estate sale and there ARE home-recorded tapes in the pictures. There's a 1990s Scotch on top of the pile of retail/recorded (about 25 tapes in total mixed), also some TDKs and some that don't have a case. This is the picker's sale that I've mentioned before. And while there weren't 'boxes up to the ceiling', there's a LOT of other household items and collectibles there as well. Too bad there isn't 500 tapes there. There was supposed to be another estate sale this weekend with loads of tapes, but I don't see the estate sale company listed in this week's Craigslist and Yakima Herald listings. Must have cancelled it. Maybe next week!

More tapes found at a garage sale on Saturday. Some finds weren't bad, but others weren't all that great. For one thing, one tape--an MGM T-120 supposedly containing a Backstreet Boys performance at the American Music Awards (unknown year) and the movie Dirty Dancing (1987) turned out to have a broken tape guard that I didn't notice until I brought these home. Here's what I found on the others:

TAPE 1: Starts with the first couple of minutes of Lucky 7 (2003 ABC Family movie), then gets taped over with one partial and one full episode of Disaster Date and one full and one partial episode of Teen Cribs taped from MTV on 4/26/2010 with commercials; then reverts to a couple of hours of footage from Gary Smalley's VHS series Hidden Keys to Loving Relationships copied from rental tapes, tape ends with a couple of minutes of a WOIO CBS 19 News at 11 weekend broadcast with Cynthia Barnes circa December 1998, fed through the second VCR used to copy the Gary Smalley tapes. Sony T-120.

TAPE 2: Raising Helen (2004), episode of The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency and partial episode of Tyra ("Inside an Eating Disorder Clinic") taped from Oxygen in March 2007 with commercials; partially taped-over Movie 5 presentation of Mesmerized (1985), about 30 minutes of ABC World News Now with Derek McGinty and Liz Cho and first nine minutes of First Business taped from WEWS on 4/9/2002 with commercials. TDK T-120.

TAPE 3: State Fair (1945) taped from AMC circa 1988, including part of Bob Dorian's introduction; Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954) taped from unknown pay TV channel circa 1988. Memorex T-120.

TAPE 4: The American President (1995) taped from TBS Superstation circa December 1998 minus commercials; Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and most of CBS 19 News at 11 with Kevin Cokely and Cynthia Tinsley (fill-in for Denise Dufala) taped from WOIO on 1/4/1999 with commercials, school closings for the next day are shown on screen throughout the movie and throughout the newscast, and yes, my alma mater was one of the schools closed because of that night's snowstorm. MGM T-120.

TAPE 5: Picture This (ABC Family made-for-TV movie) taped from ABC Family on 7/13/2008, some commercial breaks are included, others are cut out; last few minutes of Under Siege (1992) taped from unknown pay TV channel sometime in the mid 1990s; Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert, episodes of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Hannah Montana and partial episode of That's So Raven taped from Disney Channel on 7/26/2008 with promos during the shows. Scotch T-120.

TAPE 6: Most of an episode of Dr. Phil ("Babysitter Gone Bad," currently airs in rotation on OWN), Channel 3 News at Six with Romona Robinson, NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams and first few minutes of Channel 3 News at Seven taped from WKYC on 5/13/2008 with commercials; partial episode of 7th Heaven taped from WBNX on 11/22/1999 minus commercials. MGM T-120.

TAPE 7: The Cutting Edge (1992), The Cutting Edge 2: Going for the Gold (2006 ABC Family movie), encore presentation of The Cutting Edge, Murad infomercial and partial Slendertone infomercial taped from ABC Family on March 12-13, 2006 with commercials; partially taped-over Total Gym infomercial, Ab Lounge XL and Midwest Center for Stress and Anxiety infomercials taped from ABC Family circa January 2006 with commercials in between. Sony T-160.

TAPE 8: Starts with the first couple minutes of the final episode of Dawson's Creek taped from WBNX on 5/14/2003, then gets taped over with Eloise at Christmastime (2003 ABC movie) taped from ABC Family on 12/24/2006 with commercials; episode of American Dreams taped from WKYC on 5/18/2003 minus commercials; episode of 7th Heaven taped from WBNX on 5/19/2003 minus commercials; episode of Everybody Loves Raymond taped from WOIO on 5/19/2003 minus commercials; episode of Gilmore Girls taped from WBNX on 5/20/2003 with commercials. Fuji T-120.

I know the MGM tapes have the lion on the cover but do they have the lion before the taped shows?
