This should be interesting -- NASH-FM

With Entercom buying WNSH and WMAS, that opens the door of cutting the power at WMAS to move the antenna of WNSH further east.

It reopens the door that was open to Cumulus. Of course, Entercom’s financial resources afford a somewhat wider opening. The trick would be to lower WMAS’s power to a point that would still adequately serve Enfield, CT.

I don't know why the hell cumulus couldn't sell wplj to someone else!!! Never trusted cumulus!! God damm murderers!! Put more people on the unemployment line!! Destroy another heritage station too!!! Thanks cumulus!! What a joke!!! I like to know where emf gets all this money to buys stations when they don't have any commercials!!

rich christians who see it as their mission in life.
maybe we should just sell all of our radio stations to religious broadcasters and just end radio already!!! This is getting ridiculous!!! Cumulus could have sold plj to someone else to keep it alive!!! I wonder how they sleep at night knowing they just murdered another great radio station!!! I am so pissed off about this crap!!! I am so tired of this crap!!! If i was the head of the fcc i would have totally stopped this sale!! Big time!!!

Hyperbole aside, selling to "someone else" requires there to be an interested buyer with the resources available at the time.

Things happen in businesses all the time. It's unfortunate for those impacted, but there's no reason not to sleep at night.

you know what there are so many broadcasters out there that would have bought this station!! You mean to tell me they couldn't have gotten one of those to buy instead of a damm religious broadcaster!! The only thing cumulus sees is this big dollar bill!!! I can believe that no other broadcaster beside a religious one
THAT wouldn't have wanted wplj!!!

Apparently, no one wanted to pay what "damn" EMF was offering. So long as our Constitution codifies belief in the supernatural as something that must be protected, nonprofits like EMF will always have plenty in the coffers.

EMF is among the few active buyers that have dry powder and are not already at market cap levels in major markets. I can’t think of any group that would want a stand-alone FM any more. EMF is likely the most qualified buyer on a number of benchmarks... just as they were for The Sound in LA.

While EMF is listener supported, it behaves like a competitive music station. For its listeners, it is an option not otherwise available in most markets.

I am not a listener, and don’t particularly like the format personally. But just as I see a place for classic rock or alternative, formats also not of my personal liking, Christian music is a good format to provide diverse programming in a market.

The sale has not even been filed at the FCC. And they have no reason to halt it anyway; there is zero regulation of formats. In fact, regulating formats is rather contrary to the founding principles of our nation.

The sad reality is there are a lot of rich recording artists who live in NYC who could have paid whatever it took to buy this station. But the only artist willing to do that today is Stevie Wonder, who owns a station in LA. Had Bruce Springsteen or Jon Bon Jovi bought it, it could have become a powerhouse rock station. But they'd rather spend their money on sports teams or other things. Too bad.

Calm down, bud. It’s just the radio business in 2019. Besides, PLJ is a shell of its former self anyway.

THE SAD REALITY IS THAT BROADCASTERS COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THERE EMPLOYEES AND LISTENERS THAT HELP RUN THERE STATIONS. THEY HAVE NO HEART!!! THEY WILL THROW YOU UNDER THE BUS!!! I SHOULD KNOW BECAUSE IT HAPPENED TO ME!!!

IF I WAS A BROADCASTER I WOULD SELL MY STATION TO A BROADCASTER THAT WILL MAKE SURE TO KEEP THE EMPLOYEES AND FORMAT OF THE STATION. NOT TO THE FIRST BIG DOLLAR BILL THAT COMES along. I WOULD NEVER BE A SELL OUT!!!

Actually, satélite radio has paid subscriptions in about 10% of US vehicles, or around 26 to 28 million subscribers. Nearly all Sirius /XM subscriptions are in vehicles.

There are not even 3 billion vehicles in the wold... in fact there are about one billion, not three.

I was just talking to them the other day and that is what they told me!! OPPS!! Someone at Sirius XM Radio is telling me a fib!!
