New Jeopardy Host(s).

I'm enjoying the Jeopardy EP Mike Richards hosting the show this week. He's actually doing a good job. Dare I say, better than Ken Jennings.

I wouldn't go that far. He is better than I expected, but he kind of lacks personality at times. I'd be happier with Ken as the permanent replacement.

It's the writers who are the real stars, with all their bad puns and creative ways of coming up with topics.

Will have to see what a week of Richards' numbers look like. That, and I'm sure Sony Pictures and CBS is focus-grouping the guest hosts.

If Richards comes close to same as Jennings, Richards will win. Sony could give Richards an EP/Host title, kick him a pay bump, and still save a ton of expense over having to pay an EP and talent separately.

The ratings alone aren't telling who should or will get the gig. Factors like curiosity (and the waning thereof) and fatigue are going to factor into those numbers. They'll make a decision based on a feeling for who can best carry the show forward. Jennings got a lot of publicity out of the gate as the first person to have to step in. Richards...decidedly less so. And he'll have a shorter run of shows.

Moreover, it doesn't answer a fundamental question of who wants the gig. It may not be what any particular person wants in their life.

Some Jeopardy fans say they'll boycott episodes of the game show that'll be hosted by Dr. Oz, in part for pushing quack medicine and cures, and making recommendations - 1/2 of which weren't backed or were directly contradicted by medical research.

Oz will be hosting for the next 2 weeks.

Another story about Jeopardy fans not being pleased that Dr. Oz is hosting for the next few weeks, along with screenshots of some of their comments on social media. Not sure how much hype and sensationalism might be involved in this 'news item'.

So why did they wait until the episodes are airing to protest it? I know there was some question when it was announced that Dr. Oz would be a guest host, but the episodes definitely aren't going to be pulled now.

Some may not have known because it’s simply not on their radar to follow the roster of hosts. Maybe they’re not on social media or don’t follow the show’s accounts.

Some have been voicing objections all along.

That seems to be having an impact. Dr. Oz as host numbers were significantly lower. In the market I work for; roughly a 46 share vs. in the 60's.

Levar Burton of Reading Rainbow is named as a rumored candidate to host Jeopardy.
That’s not what the article suggests. He’s lobbying, a subset of fans are lobbying. That’s documented. There’s not, however, substantiation he is an actual candidate insofar as being considered by those who make the decision. I could declare myself interested, it doesn’t make me a candidate.
