NCAA Finals Ratings Down

There is one point that many are missing here. Baylor and Gonzaga are not nationally a big draw. Yes, there was some interest in Gonzaga because they were undefeated. But teams from Spokane and Waco are not going to attract a major audience.

I recognize that this is the National TV board, however I just saw this story about the national radio ratings for the NCAA basketball championships, and it was very interesting. Bottom line is 19 million listened to some part of March Madness during the 66 game series. I can say I was one of those listeners as I drove in my car. They managed to cover concurrent games early in the series by jumping around.

According to this, the demos were pretty evenly spread, with 18-34 making up 31% of the audience, 35 to 64 made up 41%, and over 65 was 27%. I'd guess TV demos were older.

They have always had good radio coverage of the tournament.
