107.9 bidders ID'd for auction 106

Why not a classic hits format like the webstream station JFRC out of Malibu CA. Its voiced by Bobby Ocean, Marvelous Mark McKay, Johnny Malibu, Mike Preston and even plays Father Harry. Sounds a lot like KFRC at its peak in the 70' and a bit like the 80's. Its just a bit heavy on the disco, but the rest of their music rounds out the rough edges. The big booming sound is really cool to hear on a car audio system. Its a shame the target audience has aged out of the money demos although Bobby Ocean and the great jingles make it a true joy to hear. Just my opinion and everyone else will have theirs for sure. Who wins this license will have a lot of rebuilding to do in the community.

Classic hits, like a "Boss Radio" format would be awesome. I enjoyed when that was on 101.9. It's all about execution. We've had fun speculating new formats on this board in the past...always seems a bit disappointing in the end though. I've always thought a Triple A, similar to KTHX Reno would fill a format hole in this market. Unfortunately niche formats do not usually equal revenue so this one will probably be another let down.

Looking at the bidders, I would guess Bonneville and EMF among the few willing and able to throw serious cash at 300B.

Won't be Bonneville. It wasn't on the list of qualified bidders.

The most likely winners would seem to be iHeart, Entravision, and EMF.

I'm gonna bet my money on EMF, not solely because they prob. have the most cash flow, but because theyd love a full market signal there.. they have two, but none look to be full market

My excitement about this auction is underwhelming. If iHeartRadio gets it, my guess is Country or a better KFBK simulcast. If Entravision gets it, what will they do since they literally gutted their best signal already.
Salem (New Inspirational)…Can you say KFIA-FM ?

VCY, another Christina’s non com. EMF and more redundancy.

Progressive Sue Wilson worked to get 107.9 back for the community, I doubt she’d like any of the options above considering she takes on the conservative media.

I’d like to see Results get it, but to they have the funds?

Not sure what’s going on over at Entravision…did anyone realize KNTY is now simulcasting Fuego 103.5 since a week or so ago? Seems they don’t know what to do with 101.9.

I don’t think Results has the cash for 300B. The fact they sold 92.1 with the 101.5 move suggests they are running a lean operation in Sac. IHeart no doubt may want a Class B since they have two B1’s in addition to the full-powers (one of which in Auburn).

EMF is in the middle of relocating their headquarters to Nashville from Rocklin. This may affect how aggressive they pursue this auction, although I’m sure there is long term savings moving out of CA.

Confirmed on their Facebook page that Fuego is moving to 101.9
This is a great move to increase coverage. 101.9 has a superior signal indeed, its huge. Now the question is will anyone listen? Do listeners in Stockton and Tracy matter or even count? This signal can compete with every station group in town, why don't they? That's if they are really in radio to make money, are they??????

Entravision is bringing country back on 103.5 in a few weeks.
Do you know that for a fact? I’m not a Country fan and I’d rather see it on 103.5 than 107.9

Seems kind of silly to put a Country format where the majority of City Grade signal is over the urban center of Sacramento and not the outer suburbs.
