Chortle on the Taylor and Moore thing. The WPHD call letters are part of an Elmira-Binghamton station once owned by a former 97 PD, so that's out. But you can bank on Shredd & Ragan moving to 97. The staff has been notified. It's been a done deal for two weeks according to a person familiar with the players involved. Whether S&R simulcast on 97 and 103 for a few weeks to a month is anybody's guess, it makes sense, but the eventual destination remains, from 103.3 to 96.9.The big announcement will be that S&R are moving to 97 Rock, Taylor & Moore are reuniting and 103.3 becomes WPHD again.
Just speculation’…
It will be very amusing if the ratings tank at both stations after this move. The Law Of Unintended Consequences...But you can bank on Shredd & Ragan moving to 97. The staff has been notified. The Lake really bothers you. The ratings history on 107.7 doesn't lie. The format worked. And just why would that happen?
PS - It still wouldn't bring "The Lake" back.
...and "Weekend at Jimmy Griffin's".The big announcement will be that S&R are moving to 97 Rock, Taylor & Moore are reuniting and 103.3 becomes WPHD again.

No, The Lake really bothers you. Everybody else here is WAY over it.The Lake really bothers you. The ratings history on 107.7 doesn't lie. The format worked.
97 Rock axed their local morning show and the ratings went up. Maybe the audience for that product just wants more "Free Bird" and less yakking. WBUF is getting nowhere with the "All Talk Morning Zoo". There's no guarantee that listeners will switch stations just because Cumulus wants to move a morning show. The current Edge morning show listeners may listen out of habit. Change may make them "opt out"...
TL;DR It’s because of two members who are quite bitter and obsessed with the old “Lake” format going away. They have a very negative view on everything, as you can see here. Also as being an outsider of Buffalo radio I am fascinated at the obsession with 107.7 on this message board. To add some gas to the fire I have deleted 106.5 from my FM radio and only listen to 104.7/107.7
S & R cannot be duplicated or one-upped. Whatever the Edge does in morning drive after S&R move and if/when the presumed simulcast of 97 and 103 ends, it has to stand on it's own merit. WEDG mornings could be a music/life-style/info show. It could be a more-music morning show. Sharper minds will make that decision. It needs be a complete departure from whatever S&R was, is and intends to be. And 103 will remain in the same format. Country is not an option. That ship has sailed, if it even was in the water in the first place....S&R makes a ton of sense for 97 Rock, but it will be interesting to see what happens at WEDG. I figure that it’s a mildly successful station so it will probably get a new local morning show.
You brought the Lake into this conversation, not me. It obviously bothers you that the public liked it.No, The Lake really bothers you. Everybody else here is WAY over it.
Shredd and Ragan ain't "Stale Beer and Fake Wings." They'll do fine. The more interesting question here is what will happen to WEDG? Format change? Syndicated mornings? New, younger morning show - and, if so, who?
Tell it to your pal Rox. He's the one who introduced the Lake into this thread, not me.The Lake is NEVER coming back. Period. End of story. There is no debate. So stop wishing for it.
As for what the move is, we may know more tomorrow. Fire up your radio...or streaming device.
Kinda sorta like what gets written on this board, eh.As for this "Big Announcement", the public will never notice or care...
