They preempted that for this?

until sometime in the late 90s, KARE delayed Leno (and Conan afterwards, nothing between them at least) for syndicated Cheers reruns, they even delayed the infamous live Leno after the Cheers finale for the Cheers reruns

Didn’t realize WSOC was also airing it too. But this means WAXN will be airing one run of the King of Queens at 4:30 and the other at 10:35 after the WSOC produced news. Also American Ninja Warrior gets bumped to 11pm because a special newcast is airing at 5pm followed by the pregame show.
The Charlotte Observer doesn't say WAXN is airing the game.

The game better be over by 8:30 because the newspaper says an NBA game is scheduled at that time.

Not a preemption per se today, but is today the first time in TV history that CBS is carrying a men's basketball game on the last weekend in February that involves a 3-win team so far? The "nightcap" (last of the tripleheader) this afternoon on CBS is UCLA (20-6) vs. Oregon State (3-23 this year despite last season's Elite Eight run). Unless CBS had this game scheduled prior to the season. Right now it's 43-28 UCLA at the half.

Unless they were committed to airing a Pac-12 game in the late slot--and without knocking on Oregon State, is it possible to do flex scheduling in NCAA basketball, or is it just football only? #3 Auburn vs. #17 Tennessee is the only game going on in the same slot as UCLA-OrSU--couldn't they have flexed UCLA over to ESPN and preempted that by picking up Auburn-UT instead? Even if it meant 2 consecutive SEC basketball games on CBS this weekend?

BTW--golf this weekend is on NBC (the Honda Classic) as due to NCAA basketball (especially with late-season intriguing games and conference tourneys, then March Madness) there likely won't be golf on CBS until the Masters. Then golf is on CBS nearly every weekend this summer until the start of college/NFL football--except at least the US Open (which aired on NBC last year).

It was over by around 8:05. They both aired it. WSOC only missed 5 minutes of NBA Countdown. WAXN missed the beginning of “The Goldbergs” episode “I Rode A Hoverboard.” Here’s proof that WAXN aired it.

Charlotte FC is playing at 7 pm Saturday March 19 and I've already seen WSOC-TV will air the game.

I had no idea the team would be so popular but I watched the news last night and that stadium was FULL. Record attendance for MLS. Fox aired the game nationally.

CBS is preempting ‘The Bold And The Beautiful,’ ‘The Young And The Restless’ And ‘The Talk’ for ‘UEFA Champions League’ Coverage not only tomorrow, but Wednesday too.

EDIT: However, all three shows will return Thursday, but “Let’s Make a Deal” and “The Price is Right” will not be impacted in markets that air the game shows as a pair in the mornings. Meanwhile, “Let’s Make a Deal” will be preempted in markets where it is scheduled to air after “The Talk.”

many TV shows in the Dallas-Fort Worth Market will be impacted by KXAS NBC 5, KTVT CBS 11, WFAA (ABC) Channel 8 and KDFW FOX 4 interrupting or pre-empting TV shows for winter weather coverage for the DFW impacts of the Winter Storm that The Weather Channel is calling Winter Storm Landon, i'm sure many TV station in markets impacted by this winter storm are interrupting/pre-empting TV shows due to it too.
I didn't know they named WINTER storms 👀🙅‍♀️

There are numerous Super Bowl preemptions, particularly in the Cincinnati market for local Super Bowl LVI pre/post game coverage.
-WCPO 9 (ABC) is airing a 4-hour pregame called Championship Dey preempting NBA Countdown pregame prior to ABC's coverage of Atlanta/Boston
-WKRC Local 12 (CBS) is preempting the 2nd half-hour of Face The Nation to air a 1-hour pregame special at 11AM as well as bumping S.W.A.T. tonight to 12:30 for a 1-hour postgame special at 10PM.
-WLWT News 5 (NBC) following Super Bowl LVI is actually preempting the post-SB Olympic coverage for a special expanded newscast to midnight for local postgame coverage leading into the reg. scheduled News 5 before late night Olympic coverage meaning viewers looking for the primetime Olympic coverage will likely have to stay up and/or DVR the late night rerun.
-In Los Angeles, KTTV FOX 11 is literally all over Super Bowl LVI with a special Good Day LA Gameday special from 8AM-Noon moving UCONN/St. John's College basketball at 9AM to KCOP My13 & then shifting FOX primetime to 11PM-2AM as they'll have a 3-hour post game show.
A postgame show for a game they're NOT EVEN AIRING?? 👀

Only in L. A. 🙄

One question

WHY?? 👀

UEFA doesn't even get the audience that A TENNIS MATCH would get here

Why does CBS think ESPN confines the MLS mostly to ESPN+ ??

How much longer before CBS daytime gets preempted for the likes of PBR Bull Riding, drag racing, or the other weekend filler programming that usually comes on during NFL singleheader weekends when the local station doesn't have their game, and/or that airs prior to PGA Tour starting in the spring/summer around 3ET/2CT?

Except what you're talking about is A LOCAL thing. What CBS did was A NATIONAL thing.

Yeah there's Paramount + & Pluto TV but not everyone has access to those things because not everyone has a Smart TV or a streaming device

Plus sports events play better on premium services like Paramount + than Soap Operas do (Which leaves me EVEN MORE DUMBFOUNDED as to WTF CBS was thinking 🥺😳👀)

Though IIRC correctly, the live Leno never aired, coverage of the GOP convention ran late, and unable to get the coverage pulled by NBC, Helen Kushnick pulled the live show, making NBC run a rerun in place of the much promoted post-convention live show.
