99.9 ANNOUNCING A FLIP

There are different rules for translators depending how it got licensed. Any translator that was applied for in the 2017 filing window for AMs is permanently tied to that station. That's why the 99.9 cannot rebroadcast any other station ever.

Those that were part of the 2015/16 250+ waiver window must rebroadcast the AM for 4 years. Any others can be changed.

Where does WMVX's 98.9 Translator fit into that scenario?

(As far as I can tell, it's not rebroadcasting ANY AM.)

Found this today.. The transition from a brokered station to a Tropical station is suppose to happen tomorrow . The people behind the new programming own stations in Texas , Georgia and Memphis

That’s the one that is currently originating on the HD2 of the 102.9 translator for WNNW. So far there’s no evidence of that being legal.
In Manchester, NH WZID is running its HD2 on a 94.1 translator and its HD3 on a 106.9 translator. In Northampton, MA WLZX-FM is running its HD2 on a 94.3 translator and its HD3 on a 96.9 translator. In Springfield, MA WHYN-FM is running its HD2 on a 97.3 translator. None of these are rebroadcasting a connected AM or analog FM station. There are more doing this in New England and elsewhere.

Yes, WZID and those others are full power stations, it's well know that what they're doing is legal as it's done all over the country. The issue with 98.9 is that it's translating the HD2 of another translator, which doesn't even have the same coverage area. There are no other known cases of this being done.

I'll bet the FCC hasn't even thought of that scenario, a translator HD2 sourcing another analog translator. It may not necessarily be either legal or illegal. I wonder if they have any documentation for that at all?

But, if the FCC still has 98.9 listed as translating WCCM 1490 AM and doesn't know that it's actually translating a different station (HD2 or not), I'd guess that may be illegal.

WJDA has made the Transition to ''LATINA 99.9FM'' TAN LATINA COMO TU
Should be interesting to see if a Translator can compete with I-hearts Rumba

Don't forgot La Mega's translator @94.9
They have upped their game since Rumba came to town playlist wise

Bad Bunny is coming to Fenway this summer.
I would think all 3 stations plus WJMN would have promo teams there.

Only if all three play that artist.

Listened this morning on 1300 since I couldn't get 99.9.
Oddly I heard it better at the Avon/Randolph line than in North Randolph.
Maybe the Blue Hills causes that.

Seems upbeat and played a few remixes I have not heard on La Mega or Rumba.
If I could get it better I would listen more.

On their webpage they are saying they are the "First and only Latin FM radio in Boston".

That is technically true as 99.9 is on the Hancock in Boston.

97.7 is in Milton (or maybe Canton), 94.9 (WAMG) is in Quincy and 95.1 (WLLH) and 102.9 (WNNW) are in Andover.

You may have had Blue Hill in the way, but the 99.9 signal is directional with somewhat of a null to the south to protect WQRC on the Cape. From Boston it sends more power north, covering the lower North Shore.

I’ve heard it in the area. Signal is strong in Burlington but weak in Winchester, the COL.
Wack-A-doo programs… the other night they were praising russia’s “peace keeping mission” against the ukrainian “neo-nazis”
