HD Radio updates

102 appears to be on their Aux site, which explains the lack of HD carrier… RDS data even says “Now playing [$title] by [$artist] on KMJQ-FM Aux”.

I typically can’t even get a solid analog signal from KQBT up here in Conroe, let alone HD… but KQBT does seem weaker than usual up here.

KMJQ probably just didn't set up the RDS correctly on their AUX.

KMJQ is back
Both KMJQ and KQBT are back in HD along with their HD-2s. I think we can safely assume they had been on backup facilities while maintenance was performed.

KROI continues to double brand as both 92.1 and 102.1 HD-2, reinforcing the idea that the Praise format on 92.1 is a placeholder. But with the pandemic abating I would think a change might not be far off. If the Praise format survives into the fall, then it might be permanent (whatever that might mean in the radio biz.)

KKBQ HD3 no longer exists after being silent for awhile. Power 105.3 is still on the air originating programming. About a week and a half ago some iHeart stations got some small updates. KTBZ dropped -FM from their call signs and the subchannels got program types. And KODA got a long name of “SUNNY 99.1”.

Thanks, I didn’t know that about iHeart stations. That makes sense why most of them are random. KQBT is 3A6D but if you change the first one to a 1 it’s KDYR which is what it used to be.
Why does iHeart do that?
From what I've heard, it's to accommodate traffic and weather information through the RDS carrier. iHeart stations transmit traffic and weather through RDS as well as through HD - the HD version includes the maps if supported by the receiver (i.e. car receiver or NRSC5 GUI).

It’s been HD for awhile. I feel like you’d be close enough to be able to catch it in HD. Maybe there was just some local tropos for you to be able to pick it up.

I’m at the parking lot of Buc-ees and I’m picking up k287bq very clear. I decided to try to listen to KLTN and no sign of it anywhere.

Which Buc-ees? And I’m getting KLTN HD
