The list Kevtronics posted starts with Saul Levine's purchase of the station.

From its sign on in 1947 until 1993, it was KGIL. Sweet Dick was there twice---1969 to 1975 and 1978-85.

KGIL, in the late 1960s and early 1970s, was considered by many to be a better personality MOR/AC station than KMPC and KFI. And, although the signal wasn't much east of downtown or south of Long Beach, they did pretty well, and promoted heavily. Here's a full-page ad from the Los Angeles Times in 1973:

I'd wager "KSUR Monterey" is dropped it over the air on 630.... when 630 was simulcasting 1260, it was implied thats what was done.

They got so sloppy near the end of their ownership of 1240 in Monterey. When it was "Unforgettable", they cut a custom-length ID that fit perfectly over the L.A. ID. It was seamless.

In the last year they owned KNRY, running "K-SURF", they played their own legal ID twice to cover the Los Angeles ID...didn't bother creating one the correct length.

Looks like it. It's coming up as "not available" on all the sources where it used to live. And because Saul doesn't make it easy to keep track, I can't find what replaced it as 105.1 HD4.

Positively my folks favorite station...One additional such newspaper ad for KGIL actually appeared in German: "KGIL 1260 Es gibt es nur eins!" (translates to: "It's the only one!" Used to love the sound of Chuck Southcott's station ID: "If anyone should ask, you're listening to KGIL, San Fernando."

Just wanted to add: I remember my mother saying "I think Dick Whittington is a total idiot--but I love him!"

I heard KSUR semi regularly at sunset in Wyoming when i knew exactly when to listen for it. I have heard KMZT a few times in Alaska

Totally.. and th4e music made it real easy to ID.. i knew instantly who this was without having to look it up!
 
At night in the Bay Area suburbs I've heard KMZT underneath SF's 1260 just like way back when I was a kid I could sometimes hear KGIL under KYA. But as far as Alaska...pretty amazing.! I hope you sent a copy of your DX to Michael Levine!
