From its sign on in 1947 until 1993, it was KGIL. Sweet Dick was there twice---1969 to 1975 and 1978-85.
KGIL, in the late 1960s and early 1970s, was considered by many to be a better personality MOR/AC station than KMPC and KFI. And, although the signal wasn't much east of downtown or south of Long Beach, they did pretty well, and promoted heavily. Here's a full-page ad from the Los Angeles Times in 1973:
