GMAZ Weekend Weather Forecasters

This is the third weekend that forecaster Steven Sarabia as been absent from 3TV Good Morning Arizona weekends. Reporter Cristiana Ramos has been substituting. I haven't watched every exchange between Ramos and anchors Kylee Cruz and Whitney Clark, but I didn't hear "Cristiana is in for Steven." The first week, I was wondering, instead of having a new reporter do the forecasting, why didn't one of the other weatherpersons come in?

Checking their website, Sarabia's picture is still there but his individual bio page goes to 404 / Page Not Found. Assuming that means Sarabia is gone. In addition, Ramos, who has been doing good work as a field reporter and was welcomed to GMAZ as a new morning reporter, should be careful: Kim Powell and Monica Garcia started as reporters, then did weather. Next thing, they were released for various reasons.

Sarabia did a lot of reporting during the past week. Seemed like he was covering stories every day.

They needed to have all hands on deck to be able to shamelessly plug cover both the S***r B**l and the Phoenix Open. Fortunately for them (and the other stations that were doing the same thing), not much serious news happened this week.

It has been a bit odd, but Steven is definitely still there. For example,, he did a report last Sunday evening, but was absent from GMAZ that morning.

WHAT?!?!?!?! Flying objects invading the USA from China/Russia/Peoples Republic of Baffoon! House rep taking Liars Championship trophy from T-rump! Underboob stories dominating the internet! Kardashians, DeSantis, economy crashing etc! Coverage of golf game in Snottsdale focuses upon drunks waiting for the beer to arrive at the 16th hole (wait, that was solid reporting). THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!

I meant local news not related to events for the rich and famous.

Thanks for the corrections. While AZ Family is where I get my local news and it plays in my house, I haven't seen Sarabia reporting. If I did, I wouldn't have started this thread.

The staffing was even weirder than usual this past week with all the events/hoopla to be covered. Seems like the marquee talent were all assigned to the fun stuff while the lesser names like Steve had to cover the actual news stories.

The strange part is Ramos has been doing weather for three weeks. She seems comfortable enough doing weather, so obviously she has been practicing. So doing math she would have been notified at least Monday January 23 to do weather Saturday 28.

And...
Saw one of their First Alert Weather and Traffic team spots, Steven Sarabia is no longer pictured. So maybe he's going full reporter and no longer doing weather?

I have no idea. I checked on the azfamily.com website. Steve's bio is still under the Weather section. But you may be right...Crisitana did the weather on the CBS 5 Updates during CBS Mornings this morning. I assume she was subbing for Ian.

Cristiana is doing a pretty good job with the weather (as opposed to others who have tried to move to weather).

Ok, it is Saturday night 2/18 at 10:06pm. Steven Sarabia just did a news report. So, Steven is in fact still with 3/5.
Yup, saw Steven on the 5:30, 9 & 10PM Sunday newscasts.

Funny how both Michael Raimondi and Emma Lockhart pronounced 'Sarabia' differently and incorrectly.

Steven is subbing for Holly Bock tonight 3/18. I guess we should be thankful that they have someone with a forecasting background in the studio live. 12 News is using a recorded forecast done by Tricia Hendricks earlier in the day.

Over the weekend (3/18 & 19) on GMAZ April filled in on Saturday, Kylee did the weather on Sunday.

The First Alert Weather & Traffic team have a new ad: they are playing soccer/football. Cristiana Ramos is not in the ad.

Thanks, brian4, I missed Saturday GMAZ! I did notice a job posting for a reporter/weather anchor position on the azfamily jobs site. So, they *may* just be using Cristiana temporarily until they can hire someone. OTOH, I think Crisitana would be a decent job on a permanent basis.

Now, I feel I must mention that Kylee is really multi-talented. She does a solid job as an anchor and as a weather anchor.. She is a real pro. I've seen here jump in and do the weather when they lose the live feed to the weather person and she doesn't even hesitate. "Guys, cue up the graphics and I'll do the weather."

Forgot to add an update for last weekend. Paul was there on Saturday morning and actually was pleasant (Paul often acts as if he doesn't want to be there, if it's not a weekday evening). Kylee did double-duty on Sunday morning and did an excellent job as usual.

So... it's been three weeks without a dedicated GMAZ weekend Forecaster. It's been April Warnecke and Paul Horton twice the past 3 Saturdays. Kylee Cruz did the first two Sundays, Horton came in this Sunday (4/02). Cristiana Ramos has disappeared. I'm sure I read her bio on AZFamily website. now it's not there. Nothing mentioned on social media.
