Could a Taylor Swift format work?

The one I just heard was by DJ Kirby and as far as I know he does his own mixes. One of the coolest things about Taylor is how into her fans she is, which may have come in part from starting out as a country artist.
Nashville drills that into their artists. You don't come off as a prima donna and you always respect your fans. That's why the warts are so startling when they pop up. Everyone knew Morgan Wallen liked to drink, but if they suspected he was the sort of person who would use "that word," even in "joking" with white friends, they kept any sign of that knowledge well hidden. Jimmie Allen's dark side was covered up until someone finally spoke up. And Jelly Roll, who, as Jason DeFord, was an absolutely horrible person before his journey to overnight country sensation began. A brutal gang enforcer has been turned into a smiling, humble teddy bear. Rock and pop have never seemed to care about demons their artists may be living with, and as a result, it's not really all that shocking when one does something, well, shocking.

I have deleted a few posts about Sirius/XM. These posts belong on the Sirius/XM Satellite board, not on the National Radio board.

I was wondering. I tried to comment on Vchimp's latest and got a "post doesn't exist."
This thread was veering in the wrong direction. If you'd like to start a similar thread on the Sirius/XM Satellite board, I can move the deleted posts to that location.

Taylor Swift has broken another Billboard record: First woman to have four albums in the Top 10

It’s a mighty week for Taylor Swift on the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated July 22). Not only does the superstar collect her 12th No. 1 with Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), surpassing Barbra Streisand for the most among women, while she also becomes the first living artist in nearly 60 years with four concurrent albums in the top 10, but she also places 11 albums on the entire 200-position chart for the first time.

In addition, I just received the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, and it's dominated by every song on Taylor's newly re-recorded album Speak Now. That was originally a country album back when she was primarily a country artist.

But would that constitute a Taylor Swift format? ;)

As I said in post #4 of this thread: If radio was a paid streaming service, a TS format would work.

If you look at the streaming charts, where the music is curated by users, they have created their own TS format.

In principle, I agree with that. One couldn't get away with it on traditional radio or SXM because the demos to both are older than your rabid Swifty.

Sometimes I think SXM has older demos than FM. I’m not sure, but I know of way more 20 or 30 somethings listening to FM or streaming radio than satellite.

SXM has tried to have offerings for younger listeners, but it’s not a service your typical gen Z or even millennial listener is going to subscribe to. Many SXM subscribers are pretty up there in age. Almost all of their most popular channels play music we constantly read complaints about FM no longer playing. They will have an expiration date eventually that could come sooner than FM.

My bet is they're probably close. Anyone noted as listening in the 12-17 age bracket is likely riding in a vehicle with parents listening to FM or SXM.

Taylor Swift, herself, is 33, though. Medium high Millennial range. Certainly most of her fans are somewhere near that age range. Isn't that prime demographic territory?

So I guess the question is do we know the average or median age of your run of the mill SXM subscriber? But even if we do, it doesn't really matter to this discussion, because an all Taylor Swift radio format isn't a great idea.

People have their customized streams for that already. If all-one-artist radio formats worked, there would be tons of them. Very few lasted more than a few months, to my recollection, Texas' "Beatle Radio Number 9" being the only one I can recall reading about. It didn't last. And that was over 30 years ago, I think.

We outsiders -- fans and terrestrial radio people alike -- seem to know very little about SiriusXM when it comes to demographics, channel popularity, who's paying for bandwidth and who isn't, etc. It's very corporate and tight-lipped.

What's wrong with that? If that child is carrying a PPM, it counts as a listen.
David may know more, but I wonder what the percentage is of families with children who actually carry a PPM? What if the kids opt out within a family? Or, what if they agree to opt-in, but just leave the PPM sitting on the dresser because their phone ultimately holds the electronic-life-priority?

How many kids are given a PPM.
