Right now she gets played about once an hour on CHR stations. She has three songs in the chart now.
Tbh the radio needs to mix in more of Taylor Swift’s songs
Back in 1977 (has it been that long) the record rep had several country stations in Tennessee playing You Make Loving So Much Fun by Fleetwood Mac. Claimed it was being played by WENO or WKDA in Nashville. I never got a negative call when I played it in Cookeville which despite the college, Cook-Vegas was really rural at the time. Of course we also played some of the Southern Rock tunes too. (Heard it a Love Song by Marshall Tucker etc.) so I can see where a couple of Taylor Swift tunes that were aimed at Pop could wonder into Country or vise a versa.
Back in day CCR was a top 40 success. My dad listened to country. Never heard them on WSM at night. I wonder if the folks aged under 30 listening to County now would even consider listening to a Credence song. Would it be too "tangy"?
Sorry, about that. It was something I had wondered about listening to his stuff recently.Ugh, I'm guilty of taking the "living in the past" route. Sorry. Let's get back to the subject of a Taylor Swift format, if indeed there is anything more to say on that subject that hasn't been said already. Consensus seems to be that it's a gimmick format, good for a few days to promote a concert but not suited for anything resembling permanence. All this other talk of Fleetwood Mac, CCR and John Mellencamp has little if any connection to Swift, and I fear we are in for page after page of "What about this artist?" and "What about this song?" posts.
Did any Country stations play John Mellencamp's stuff from 1987's "The Lonesome Jubilee"? "Paper In Fire" "Cherry Bomb" and "Check It Out" wouldn't sound out of place, even 1989's "Jackie Brown".

We are proud and excited to present the Bay Area Swifties with an on-air home for everything Taylor Swift with Tay Bay."

LOS ANGELES (AP) — This week the United States’ biggest newspaper chain posted to its site two unusual job listings: a Taylor Swift reporter and a Beyoncé Knowles-Carter reporter.
Gannett, which owns more than 200 daily papers, will employ these new hires through USA Today and The Tennessean, the company’s Nashville-based newspaper. The job description for the Swift-focused role announced Tuesday says the company is seeking “an energetic writer, photographer and social media pro who can quench an undeniable thirst for all things Taylor Swift with a steady stream of content across multiple platforms.”
“Seeing both the facts and the fury, the Taylor Swift reporter will identify why the pop star’s influence only expands, what her fanbase stands for in pop culture, and the effect she has across the music and business worlds,” the company’s website says.
Trying to stay relevant in a social media world, especially after wracking up losses since the Pandemic. They're seeing digital growth, but is it enough, long term, to help them remain profitable?![]()

Interesting but how that works in practice is yet to be seen.
Only if it's dedicated completely to everything positive about Taylor Swift. So this Taylor Swift reporter may give them a boost. But do Taylor's fans read online newspapers?
Doubtful.Give it time and an Ava Max format might make bigger waves. 😉
Could a 24/7 Taylor Swift channel work on terrestrial radio. I don't know of any other artist that has the power that she has right now. Would her fan base listen or even care.
On TERRESTRIAL RADIO?? Yeah, it could get some listeners around the time of one of her concerts, but definitely not 24/7/365. I'm pretty sure most of her audience listens to Pandora or Spotify.Could a 24/7 Taylor Swift channel work on terrestrial radio. It's also a case of her being one of the few singing pop superstars, with star quality -- a handful of country singers maybe being an exception. There really isn't very much competition in that field.![]()
