Writers Strike 2023?

It is surprising the WG isn’t trying to shutdown the daytime soaps rather than let nonunion/former union continue to write the shows during the strike. Note this has happened in past strikes, it’s almost like an unofficial carve out. I don’t think anyone in primetime or in other scripted/WG written programming is doing this.

“Also known as financial core or fi-core writers, scab writers are individuals who have crossed the picket line and are no longer in the WGA. Things, however, might be different for "General Hospital." In her Instagram caption, Peace explained that the final episode she wrote for "General Hospital" aired on July 20, 2023. New episodes without the original writers will air (starting) on July 25, and Peace noted that she and the soap's other writers don't know what comes next in the series.”

Are most game show hosts union members or not? I'm guessing Jane Lynch on The Weakest Link being a union member is part of why it hasn't been renewed yet.

Game shows seem to be exempt from the strike. Otherwise, we would have marathons of 48 Hours and reruns of FBI every night on CBS. But if the hosts are treated as scabs, that's a BIG problem...

So Mayim Bialik's statement not long ago that she wouldn't be crossing picket lines to host Jeopardy! out of sympathy for the striking writers could be breach of contract if she follows through on it, then? She is a member of an entirely different union (SAG) that's not striking against the producers of Jeopardy!, so what are her rights when it comes to a "sympathy" refusal to perform her job?
