I’ve been working in Maryville this week and finally got a chance to listen to Fun 105.9. It sounds better than what I heard the first weekend. The music mix and the jingles are nice. I think it sounds much better than Lake FM did. The problem however is that signal. Even in Maryville, I had trouble receiving it outdoors on my portable radio without some static. I actually preferred flipping over to AM and listening to it on 1400.
92.5’s signal is stronger there than both 105.9 and 105.1. And of course 104.9 is stronger than all the above, but it’s not perfect. By the way, the new signal maps for those signals are up on RadioLand. You can really see how 92.5 can coexist with 92.3. 92.5’s signal is shaped like a V. It covers Maryville and Sevierville and little else.
And speaking of STLs, 105.1, 105.9, and 850 all had silent open carriers today, while their counterparts 1180, 1400, and 92.5 were running their respective formats normally.
